| Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! What's up with Jeff Burton? McDowell Let him pass, and Gordon, and Edwards at lap 10, by lap 7 McDowell had a flat tire and was out of the race. Gordon was able to pass both Burton and Mcdowell. IMHO if anybody has anything to complain about it's Hamlin, I didn't notice the #28 pulling off the track to let Hamlin breeze by. I didn't see Jimmie Johnson crying a river of tears because he was spun out by Newmen ala Biffle. Maybe NASCAR should enact the "Burton rule", any car not on the lead lap by lap 20 should be pitted so the other drivers won't have to get around them. Come on Jeff Burton, aren't you numero uno in the point standings? If you wanna be mad at somebody else because you didn't win, maybe you should direct your anger at Denny Hamlin and Jeff Gordon, they both beat you to the finish. Well Jeff Burton, just because your car is orange, you don't drive for Home Depot and you're certainly no Tony Stewart!

| Re: Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! I agree with Jeff Burton. McDowell should have pulled over in the closing laps and let the leaders fight it out. McDowell is a seasoned driver and assumed he would continue to stay with the leader until someone closed the gap behind him. Burton is probably more attuned to knowing that competition in the last few laps is important to the fans. |

| Re: Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! What surprised me was how quickly the 18 moved out of the way of the 24 in the final laps. I was prepared for him to block and even make a move that had the potential of taking the 24 out. My guess is someone got to him after the truck race and maybe pointed out what Burton would do to him if he continued to be the bully. |

| Re: Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! I always say, if the car is a lapped car or not, if you can't pass them ride behind them. I don't think any car should just move over and let another by. It's called racing for a reason. |

| Re: Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! I see both sides of this issue. If your placement on the track isn't going to be hurt by letting someone by then why block ?? On the other hand I agree that this is racing. If you want to and can get by me ... then do it, but race me to do it.

| Re: Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! I see both sides as well. I wouldn't expect you to just move over and let me by, but things change during the last few laps and if a leader or a guy challenging for the lead is getting slowed up or blocked by a driver who is a lap down then I could understand Burton being upset. Sorta like race me how you want to be raced and if the situation was reversed I guarantee that McDowell would be upset as well. |

| Re: Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! Seems to me just a race or two ago there was a big flap (by me anyway) about DJ, who was one or more laps down, "racing" the leaders. Whether ya like it or not, lapped traffic should not be a determining factor in the outcome of a race. Kyle did what he should have done, Gordon was catching him fast, Kyle was many laps down, so he moved over for a potential race winner (even though the announcers wanted to see him put "team" moves on JG - and probably get booted!) What Kyle did is called "racing courtesy" and more drivers should show it. And, believe me, it comes back around to haunt or help you! I was happy about how McDowell was racing up until that point in the dwindling laps of the race: if ya basically don't race the race leader when he laps ya, then don't turn around and race the 2nd place car.... JB made his point. Correctly in my opinion: send a warning to a rookie to pay attention to who's on your rear bumper and don't be a factor in determining which car wins because you're racing for "pride". I probably didn't see it right (old eyes watching a not-so-hot regular broadcast transmission), but I'd swear none other than Carl gave McDowell a healthy bump sending him almost out of control, and certainly out of the way, shortly after Burton got by. So, maybe McDowell received "instruction" quicker than JB thought... I don't think JB would issue such a warning to a non-rookie, and quite possibly he also meant it to remind the spotters who are supposed to be watching over/coaching their young charges...

| Re: Jeff Burton to Teach McDowell A Lesson! Mcdowell let the lap leaders easily pass at lap #10. I really don't think Jeff Burton had a chance of beating Hamlin anyway especially since Jeff Gordon passed Burton with out any trouble. At what lap would it be good manners to pull over to let the lap leaders go by if not lap #10? I understand you don't want someone 10 laps down blocking the lap leaders in the final laps. But then even Burton wasn't exactly on his tail, I thought Mcdowell was far enough in front of him not to have to slow down and pull aside. If anybody TV'oD the race, at about 23 laps to go, there's a good shot of Hamlin going around the corner and you can see a bright orange circular glow on the inside of his wheels. The temperature of the brakes must have been off the charts. |
