| Who Will Stay and Who Will Go? Brother Tuck4Bama posted this in the Cup Chase Standings Thread: Food City 500 | Bristol Motor Speedway | Race 5 of 36 1 Kyle Busch 782 2 Greg Biffle 752 3 Kevin Harvick 749 4 Jeff Burton 745 5 Dale Earnhardt Jr. 686 6 Kasey Kahne 674 7 Tony Stewart 656 8 Ryan Newman 635 9 Clint Bowyer 606 10 Kurt Busch 605 11 Matt Kenseth 604 12 Martin Truex Jr. 595 Everyone looks like a genuinely great driver to me. But... Not included in that list are four drivers who have, historically, been contenders and threats to win the whole thing. Namely, Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson, Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin. OK, IF any of the previously-mentioned four, or a "wild card" I didn't mention, are to get into the Playoffs then some corresponding drivers will have to come out. Any opinions on who will make it and who will be displaced (or should I have said "disenfranchised?")? What makes you think this way? Inquiring minds wish to know.

| Re: Who Will Stay and Who Will Go? I think bad karma has fallen Edwards after the oil lid incident. He was up there. Johnson I think is he can't drive a car that's not setup perfect. Look at Gordon, he even had trouble some and he is a hell of a driver. Denny I think will pick back up.

| Re: Who Will Stay and Who Will Go? I think Edwards and Hamlin will get in. I also think at least either the 24 or 48 will get in if not both. Looking at the list of current drivers in the top 12. I do think several will drop out. But I hate these kind of questions because you always end up pissin someone off but I think: Newman will drop (he's already dropping fast since daytona and just don't think they are consistent as some of the teams looking in). Kahne will drop (the team has greatly improved but I just don't think they are good enough yet for the long haul... And remember I am a dodge guy) Truex ...Last year I said he would drop but he didn't and I was happy for that because I like Martin but I don't have much faith in DEI. Hope I'm wrong again. Kurt Busch- I just think it's hard in the Dodge regardless of who's driving. Dodge just isn't AS consistent at all the tracks like the chevy's, ford's, yota's. |

| Re: Who Will Stay and Who Will Go? I think you'll see Jimmie Jphnson, Jeff Gordon, and Denny Hamlin move into the list. That will displace some at the lower end unless they have good finishes at Martinsville. I look to see Dale Jr., Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. move up. Then it will be time to start talking about who's on the bubble in that 12th position of the Chase. |

I'll be honest with you. This season the number of people perfectly capable of being in the top twelve and being competitive for outnumber the twelve available spots. My thought is that who will make it and who won't is a crap shoot. As much as I don't totally agree with this Playoff format, it does add a dimension to the season, doesn't it? |
