| Re: Ask The Experts ... NASCAR I have a really stupid question, and didn't want to start a new Thread. While I was watching all the Daytona stuff today, I noticed that the lower-level seats are multi-colored. Were they always like that? Watching the announcers with the stands in the background, at first glance, I thought there were people in the seats. Now, I do remember some discussion regarding this on this forum. Don't remember what track they were talking about. So, were they always multi-colored and I just never noticed? Thanks in advance. I know someone will know the answer to this.

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NASCAR Watching the interview with Mikey after he qualified today reminded me of the trouble he got into last year. At the time there was speculation about what the gunk was that was found in the intake manifold but it was never confirmed. Nascar as they often do refused to comment even after additional testing. Does anyone know what the substance was? |

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NASCAR Other than just being Nascar and not beating up on an already down Toyota start, why not disclose what it was? Think they were afraid someone else would try it? Just thought it was strange for the officials not to put a period on this. |

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NASCAR Well Bass they did put a period on it.... they said they cheated and punished them, and that was the end of it period. They fined them big time to try and prevent anyone from doin somethin else like it. |

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NASCAR I got that. When the 48 messed with the shock package a while back, it was pretty much explained what they were doing and why [it delayed the shock rebound thus keeping the nose down]. We understood the why with the MW team action, but never understood why they were so desperate as to do something that was so likely to have been detected. Moving on now. |

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NASCAR Since I dabble with video and video editing I'll add my perspective to your Q & A session. I think you answered it but I will respond anyway. Lets take a look at a section of seats that is, we'll say 750 seats. Now lets put 700 people in those seats and just sporadically leave some empties. Most people will not wear what the person next to them are wearing so when you look at that section of seats (if they were full) you'd see a mish mash of color. Now we have 50 empty seats there and if they were a black or brown we'd notice them as they would stand out over the color of everyones clothing. Making them randomly different color seats leaves the TV viewer with the perception that you are looking at a packed house. It looks far better for the camera, the viewer sees the event as popular and the event owners appear to have a product/service/event that everyone wants to see. The lower level seats are the least desirable seats at a large track such as Daytona so they would be the ones most likely to be empty. Make sense ??? |

I was just curious if this was in any way related to the intentional "illusion" that was discussed last year due to sagging sales/ratings. |

But the Shootout isn't usually a sell out, so I wouldn't worry too much. If DIS has empty seats for the 500 & 400, then they have a big problem! |

| Re: Ask The Experts ... NASCAR It is done as an illusion but ploys like this have been around for a long time. The events of the past year have little or nothing to do with it. |
