NASCAR to Ethanol

There has been a lot of buzz with the oil crises and all that NASCAR should switch to ethanol. I definitely think its a wise move. I wonder if anyone has figureed how much fuel we use for sport in this country. Probably just as much as the whole country does on fuel outside of sport. Its kind of crazy if you ask me. Here is an article that you all might find to be interesting. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CAR_NASCAR_IN_THE_PITS?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLA TE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2006-05-15-15-51-19

Re: NASCAR to Ethanol

I'm not well versed in ethanol.... what type of power can it create and will the engines have to be retooled at all to compensate for what isn't in the ethanol versus the fuel currently used ?

Re: NASCAR to Ethanol

Very interesting article....it will happen some day....like bottled water...remeber when that first came out?

It may start at the Truck Series first, and a billion dollars later make it to Busch & Cup.

The closing was great...."Beyond that, there's only one reason for NASCAR to be wary of ethanol: Keeping folks in the infield from trying to chug the leftovers.".......France can charge $6 a swig!!!

I'm the same LSC! I don't know much about ethanol versus just the regular gas. Wouldn't they have to make the engines different and fuel lines as well-fuel cells? Not sure!

Hey LSC where are my nitrogylcerin pills! LOL!

Re: NASCAR to Ethanol

I agree with Simon. Very dangerous stuff. I remember an incident at Indy several years ago when a guy in the pitts caught on fire and it took awhile for anyone to figure out what was wrong because the flames were invisible. Burns VERY clear. Also if he read the same ESPN article that I read it said that for a 500 mile race, 43 cars used as much fuel as the rest of the U.S.A. uses in something like 20 seconds.
