In-Car Radio Question

Assuming you have access to all 43 drivers' channels in any given race...

If you could pick ONE driver/crew chief/spotter channel to listen to...

WHO would it be and WHY?

Re: In-Car Radio Question

Since I have no one favorite driver it would depend on the track, current points standings and the current track position of any number of drivers. How's that for avoiding a direct answer ???

Re: In-Car Radio Question

Depends on what you want to hear. Kyle Petty would open the most eyes! The big grin, and nice guy persona goes right out the window when the green flag drops.

For some insight in mid race changes, The 48 car. Like him or not, he is a great cheerleader for Jimmy, and a master at adjusting to mid race conditions.

Jeff Gordon, as much as I admire his skills, he is still good for a temper tantrum at times!

On the nationwide side, check out Kenny Wallace! Just a riot!

Also, if the MRN crew is on, listen to the race broadcast. On the scanner, there are no commercials, and the chat that goes on when the mikes are "cold" is a riot!

All they talk about at Dover is food! And some of the stuff they say about the drivers is very insightful, when they know that very few are tuned in!

Re: In-Car Radio Question

Well, back in the day when I went to Loudon with a head seat, I tuned in to many drivers. About 15. Mostly, the big names. Scanned for the most part.

Sr.--just because he was Sr. Couldn't understand a word he said with that Southern drawl, but anticipated every word.

Stewart--Only memorable moment was when he said, "I'm outta fuel!", on the last lap. But that was only a millisecond before the world knew the same.

Rusty--Chatty Cathy. Didn't learn much.

For me, the most chatting that went on was during a caution.

Today, I don't think I'd listen to anyone. Been there, done that. Just not my bag.

Re: In-Car Radio Question

That's a tough question. I'm not sure I could only listen to one. I ran an office full of submarine sailors and I thought I had learned every "off color" word on the planet. Um, no. If you want to increase your vocabulary, listen to Robby Gordon on a bad day. But I guess it would be a toss up between Kyle Busch because he's very bright and funny, even though I usually want to slap him upside the head, and Jeff Gordon. Gordon is my second choice because it's like he has some kind of multiple personaltiy disorder. He's goes from his usual calm, cool and collected to "!!#$&?!!" in a heartbeat. He is not Mr. Clean, as his TV image would suggest.

Re: In-Car Radio Question

As a Jr fan I usually would listen to him and he is fun to listen to at times. I agree that Jeff Gordon can be real interesting to listen to, Kyle Busch is also sorta fun as well. I guess I would normally listen to the big names. I don't really listen much anymore though.
