| Re: Will Tony Stewart Be Fined For Tire Comments There was some truth to what he said but he told the reporter straight up that goodyear needs to leave nascar, not so wise imo, of course were talking about tony here so this shouldnt shock anyone.. |

| Re: Will Tony Stewart Be Fined For Tire Comments I could very easily see HMS dropping Mears and adding Tony if they could. I think they would be willing to put up with his attitude, because he brings a lot of money to the table. That said, I don't know if I see him leaving in the first place. |

| Re: Will Tony Stewart Be Fined For Tire Comments Well, I had a big long repsonse typed, and my comp froze up! Bottom line, if Tony was fired today, which won't happen, a top flite team would pick him up before the cars went through tech for Bristol this weeknd. And you can take that to the bank. It's funny how sesitive race fans have become. In the NFL, folks are debating where Pacman Jones will end up, and he has been arrested more times than I can count. The fact that Tony runs his mouth and folks are outraged about it is a joke. Take it to the Bank, any racing series Tony wants to race in would have a seat available for him, much less any NASCAR team. He would be the best driver to join any team out there, other than MAYBE HMS, and I do mean maybe! |

| Re: Will Tony Stewart Be Fined For Tire Comments We as fans expect it in the NFL because that is the way it is. In NASCAR it isn't that way ................ yet. So when it does happen many are in fact outraged. I see it more as the way the message was delivered and not the message itself.

It cracks me up when any fan says any drivers are whining. They have always wanted thier cars perfect. Anyone who has ever listened with a scanner knows that. I have never heard one driver that didn't complain when they are driving! I can't tell you how many drivers have cursed everything but their mother, and gotten out and talked all peaches and cream about their 2nd, 10th, 20th place finish. And a lot of folks talk "racing wasn't this way 20 years ago, those drivers were MEN". To that I say, HOGWASH! What was different was Media access (and no, it's not the medias fault when tony says dumb things). NO other sport has the access that this one does. But, I do think the media has too much access. I watch the Flyers post game after every game. Do they really need to talk to the players while they are still in their towells???? I truly do think that if fans don't wanna hear any controversy, then you should be asking NASCAR not to talk to drivers for about an hour after the race. I don't want that, but I think some do. And don't give me "be professional". These guys aren't businessmen and women, sitting in a boardroom. These are drivers and athletes. Just getting finished in an emotional time, for hours on end. Comment on it all you want to, I find it funny at times, and I do it myself. But fines!!!!! Fine, then these guys will stop talking. I guarantee it. Or they will give very curt, to the point answers. If you want personality, don't ask or expect NASCAR to fine these guys. If they do, we will just kill one more chance at seeing some of the real folks that drive these cars, and they will all become more robotic than they are now. I sure don't want that. |

| Re: Will Tony Stewart Be Fined For Tire Comments Watching all the late comments and reading them last night after the race many griped about the tire. Chad Knause had a different take. I'm not a big fan of his but let's not lie he knows a lot about the cars. His take wasn't that the tire was too hard. The car had too little downforce. Ever since they've changed to the CoT people have griped about the hard tires. If you think about it, it makes a little sense. Like he said only two things hold the car onto the track. Tires and downforce. Goodyear is bringing similar tires they always had and now the cars have a fraction of the downforce they used to. Just something to think about. I bet you take a slick hard tire and stick a couple thousand pounds of downforce onto it - it sticks pretty good to the track. You take a slick hard tire and stick a couple hundred pounds of downforce on top of it and it slides like crazy. I don't care if they fine him or not. But answer this. What's the one thing that NASCAR guards above all? MONEY. In the past before the recent round of we're let them have more personality the number 1 offense you could get a fine for right off more than griping about NASCAR, more than cheating, more than anything - was bad mouthing a company that sponsors the series and has a financial tie in with NASCAR. That's a fact. In the past you could gripe about the tire they brought but I'm just guessing but when you say on TV that the major sponsor and only supplier of tires to the event should stick to street tires. I'm guessing NASCAR isn't happy. Let's not forget why Goodyear is there. MONEY. Pure and simple. If it didn't make money sense for NASCAR and Goodyear they wouldn't be there. Step on the bottom line and get fined. Sounds dumb but I GUARANTEE some die hard NASCAR/Tony Stewart fan now says "Gee I'll buy some BFG tires next go around and not Goodyear" and that's how the game works. It's all fun and games till you cost me a $1, then the fun and games part is over. |
