Dale Jr already "backed him", and said the tires were bad, and that side by side racing just wasn't possible.

But it wouldn't hurt Tony to be a bit more diplomatic about it! How bad were the tires for him when he went from 32nd to 2nd in the race!

But at least he's honest. Most of the drivers are graduates of the Michael Waltrip school of kissing NASCARS backside.

It seems to me that Goodyear (and I'm no big fan of Goodyear; I'd much rather see NA__AR running Hoosier) is between a rock and a hard place.

On one hand, the drivers want softer tires which don't throw spark, figuratively speaking. I can dig that. On the other hand this new car puts a lot of down force on the right side and a softer tire could lead to another 2006 Richmond fall race.

Goodyear is apparently leaning on the side of caution.

Tony, and the rest of the complainers, will get over it.

IRT Kyle Busch. YOu hit the nail on the head. If more Cup drivers drove like Shrub we wouldn't be complaining about "Points racing."

Aint that the truth.... all out all the time. You know I was listenin to the nascar channel on sirius durin the race, and the commentators made the remark the the COT/CON was more of a drivers car meanin it was more toward people who flat out drive verses those that just sit in the car and look pretty.

IMO Kyle Busch proves this theory. What does everyone else think?

I agree 100%. I didn't get to see todays race, I was working, but for the most part I think the races with the new car have been pretty darn good!

I'm looking forward to Bristol next week!

Re: poor tony....[poor joe gibbs]

I agree that Tony Stewart could use a few quick lessons in diplomacy but he doesn't strike me as the "go along, get along" type of person and - more importantly - it wouldn't be Tony Stewart!

I do have a query about Goodyear and how they managed to wedge themselves as the only provider of tires to this racing league. I'm sure there are other tire manufacturers in this country that would be more than happy to provide NASCAR with their tires, so how Goodyear has absolutely no competition in a league that's all about competition is way beyond my comprehension! I'm hoping someone here can enlighten me as to why this is the case.

It seems a lot of folks seem to think a "tire war" would be bad for the sport. I'm not so sure.

It was a popular thought that the Hooisers were responsible for Neil Bonnet and Rodney Orr losing thier lives in Daytona back in 1993. But there were quite a few teams trying out those tires. I am pretty sure that Alan Kulwicki was one of those teams.

Anyone hear that remembers Alan think he was foolish? I sure don't!

A bit of a taskmaster, perhaps, but that is even more reason why I have my doubts about how bad the Hoosiers really were.

Didn't the truck seried allow the crew chiefs to choose between Hoosier and Goodyear one season?

Re: poor tony....[poor joe gibbs]

Seems some other drivers agree with Tony. LIke Gordon and Jr. They are nicer about it, but are clearly not happy!!

Are they both whiners?
