Jeff Gordon lays down an incredible lap and his teammate (no, not Jimmie Johnson) Dale Junior, has one bobble at the start of qualifying that probably cost him the pole and they end up as the only two cars in the field that broke 184 mph!

The most exciting qualifying run though came from Patrick Carpentier where he went from go-home on the first lap to balls-out, wad-it-up or make it, second lap, sliding sideways, almost smashing the wall in turn 4 to cross the line in 21st place and make the show! That was sweet!

Many people, myself included, have this love affair with Schrader. I'm curious as to why. The reality is he has only ever won 4 races. Not many over such a long career. I find that he is in the Mark Martin category in that he is liked by the fans and respected by his fellow drivers. It is sad to not see him in the race but ..... his prime has long since passed.

I think maybe it's because you can tell he just does it cause he loves it. It seems like for him it's a joy and for some it's just a career. I know he's past his prime, but he's the one I'll miss when he quits.

Same here, I really like having the 13 go or go homer's qualify at the same time, definitely adds a little more drama. The 10 and 78 looked real good, but man did that 44 look terrible.
