Re: Who woulda thunk it

Holy crap! What a Thread!

I really wish we could stop comparing "open-wheelers" to "non-open wheelers". To me, it just doesn't matter. I think many people use that comparison to strike conversation/debate. Doesn't cut it with me.

I like Tony. Don't care where he comes from. The other two former-open wheelers who I don't like has zero to do with their background. I just don't care. Show me what you got in Cup, or go back home. Same goes for Kerry Earnhardt. Followed him. Watched him. Wanted to like him. Couldn't drive to save his own life. I don't care what your name is or what you have accomplished prior to joining Cup. Drive like the wind, or get the heck out! If you think you are entitled by name or former accomplishments, I have no interest.

To me, Mark Martin is a champion. Whether or not he holds the Cup in his hands or not doesn't matter. Nothing anyone can say will ever change that.

Flash forward to the NW race. It wasn't his intention to wreck anyone. Even Edwards said, and I'm paraphrasing, "You just can't get mad at Mark Martin."

I guess I'm learning that I am in the minority of NASCAR fans. I learn to "respect" drivers before I become a "fan" of such drivers.

I can live with that.

Well spoken Penny. The Kerry Earnhardt example is a very good one in reference to name recognition issue. As Tom Cruise said in the Jerry Mcguire movie .... "Show me the money" .... or go home.

He qualified well yesterday and drove a whale of a race today in the Cup Lite race.
I do agree, and he looks like one of the boys

Qualified the cup car 12... great
Qualified the busch car without any practice in a busch car all season... good
Finish the busch (ok nationwide ) race in the top ... great.
Was driving in the wall by Newman in cup, but he could had lifted or break... rookie mistake.
To bad he's outside the top 35, that will kill his chance for ROY, but the other rookie are on the verge of being out of it in 2 races....
