| Diecast collecting. Let me know if this is the wrong forum for this, But I don't know where else to ask. Becoming a fan of NASCAR last year, I decided to start a 1:64 scale collection of every Camry in NASCAR. I recently completed my 2007 collection with a open-hood 83 Red Bull (Brian Vickers). Oddly enough, as I was opening the package, I accidently dropped the car, and the wing came off. Superglue fixed it up, and I don't think I'll ever order a non-open hood model again. This was my first, all my others were cheapos, but I like the painted interior and bottom, and the rubber tires. (I know, I shouldn't even remove them from the packaging, but I like to display them, i'm not really going for keeping maximum long-term value) So far, I've been making sure that anything I buy is manufactured by Motorsports Authentics, which seems to be reccommended by various sites I've seen. But uh, this site, and most other diecast sites I've seen, are poorly implemented. Poor search functions, limited ability to narrow down my browsing to specific categories of cars. So my question is, what are the best websites to use for buying diecast nascar stuff? And, I live in the Seattle area. Any good places I can go to buy NASCAR diecast stuff in person? I was referred to Jet City Chevrolet in Federal Way about a year ago, and they had a pretty big Diecast selection, but not a whole lot of NASCAR stuff. Thanks for your help, and if this is the wrong place for this question, let me know where to go with it, and I'll go there instead. Last edited by LSC9901 : 02-28-2008 at 06:45 PM. | Re: Diecast collecting. I mostly get mine from ebay. For awhile I shopped at different diecast places, but found I can get the same car usually cheaper on ebay. Plus I can type in a drivers name and thats what it finds me. |

In the past I've collected baseball cards, and comic books... now I'm collecting diecast cars. Cheap ones, at that. Some of those things go for upwards of 60 bucks. I don't have the kind of money or space that it would take to collect 1:24 scale cars. Don't worry, though, I won't bother this forum with another diecast thread. I see there isn't much intrest here. -Measure. |

| Re: Diecast collecting. I'd go with eBay too. Sometimes you'll have to bid, but other times you can just buy. And you're more likely to find 1:64 there. Just type in the search the last name of the driver you want, followed by 1:64. Most the diecast sites sell 1:24 because they make more money off them than 1:64, and like Phils20 said, they're usually overpriced. |

| Re: Diecast collecting. I found that building is better than buying. What I mean is, I've bought alot of diecast and they cant hold a candle to the models i built. Might not be as perfect but sure is something I can say I did. I find most of my cars at local hobby shops, It takes time an a good eye to make them look as good as diecast. I will never buy another diecast as long as I live. No fun in that.

| Re: Diecast collecting. Measure, If ya want someone who is REALLY in to it, invest a call to: Jack's Racing Collectibles When I say "in to it", check out his cars for sale. Have personally been in this establishment and it has, can get, or will work to help you find, pretty much whatever you seek. Not quite sure why the online shopping is presently "off". Maybe they are updating inventory. I do know they are still there and ready to serve the collector since I ride by the place on a fairly regular basis. Also, we've a National Guard Armory local to us that has NASCAR collectible event on fairly regular basis. You might want to do some poking around locally to see if similar occurs in your area. Good luck, and enjoy your hobby. |
