There was a story going around that they are going to attempt to have more country people sing the anthem instead of the rockers. It's always nice when you can actually understand what they are singing.

I only wish the above were true. Unfortunately, yet again the racing at Daytona is taking a back seat to off-track politics.

It's a shame because, from what I've gathered, Newman's and Penske's win was the most popular win since Senior won.

That particular rendition of the Anthem wasn't what I personally like (I'm more of a Sinatra kinda guy and not country) but it was eons better than some of the trash they've tried to pass off as patriotic, during the last decade or so.

Well SS I for one agree. I thought Trisha Yearwood did a great job and sang it as it traditionally should.
Now Bob, I'm interested what a Frank Sinatra version of the Anthem would sound like.......not too inspiring are my thoughts

Are you kidding? We're talking about The Chairman of the Board here!!!??? He, Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Jr could make "Row, row, row your boat..." sound like it belonged in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Songbook! Doing the Nation Anthem would have been child's play to him!

I don't have many positive thoughts about any entertainer but Old Blue Eyes? I suspicion that it might have been he, and not Algore who discovered the Internet! <VBG>

Not a big Sinatra fan here either Bob! Sorry! I just can't see the anthem done is his style.

But then again, about 90% of the "singers" that do it these days are lousy!

Trisha did a great job with it this year! And I'm much more of a Rock fan. I do think that the country singers do a much better job most of the time, however.
