I guess if you define as doing just fine means one 1/2 of your team struggles week in and week out riding in the back to stay in the top 35.

Re: Calling all Labonte fans!!

on wind tunnel last night , bobby didn't dein the rcr rumor but rather simply he couldn't comment on it right just yet.
that leads me to believe he will go there.
hopefully PE can handle the blow, with kyle getting ready to step out of the car , it would leave them with 2 new drivers.
sounds like another like another once dominate team that is struggly today.

being an RCR fan I'd like to see bobby there, but at the same time I hate seeing an icon of the sport struggling so bad.

when bobby went to PE the team was going tobe todd parott, robby loomis ,and bobby. nothing to sneeze at, but when todd jumped ship that took out a major cogg in the works.

That's exactly my point. Kyle is content to run around in the back each week as long as he's in the top 35. It makes good business sense to him.

Petty Enterprises sponsor money is not dependant on where Kyle finishes each week. Just being in the race is enough. Just being in the race also keeps the money flowing into the vicotry juntion gang camp.

But if you have any talent do you want to race on a team where the other driver is content to count down laps in the back of the race? Probably not. Now if you have no other ride I'm sure lots of people would take it as a chance to get into NASCAR, or stay in NASCAR at the end of their career.

But PE is not a "great place" to be right now if you want to contend to win races.

Re: Calling all Labonte fans!!

Petty better start making some changes. Once Kyle isn't sitting in that car I'm not sure it would be viable for a two team car to run like that week in and week out.

That car is profitable because Kyle sits in it and has a lot of exposure and for fundraising etc...

Once he's out I'm not sure they continue with big sponsorship while running around the back.

Re: Calling all Labonte fans!!

Pretty good weekend for Bobby! He placed 5th on Saturday, and 12th today.

He is in 14th in the points as we speak. I know the team has said it may take them as much as half the season to start to gel with the new crew and car chiefs!

Let's hope this is a sign of things to come. Qualifying 5th and finishing 12th, is not great, but it is good.

That is what I'm hoping for!

Bobby had a great run in the Fall Bristol race! I'm hoping they can repeat that performance this week!
