Re: R. Gordon loses 100 points, crew chief suspended

Jim Beam believes in the driver they've chosen to sponsor enough to add their voice to his appeal to the penalty. There's even a petition on their site for people to sign if they feel like it.

I'm not a Robby Gordon fan, or a Jim Beam fan for that matter. But I gotta respect their willingness to stand by him like that.

Whatever .. with only nose and tail pieces making up the difference between any two models (along with the decals .. which seem to have been approved), one wonders just how hard the process is to "approve" nearly identical replacement parts (the stated differences is the placement of the decal lines for the 2 Dodge models.)

just heard today, but haven't researched it, so consider what follows a rumor.

None other than John Darby said the "illegal" nose on Robby's car was identical to the "legal" nose and offered no advantage nor disadvantage to Robby. Now, how is NASCAR going to squirm out of this one?

I've arrived in the - "don't know what we're talking about" - zone. The following excerpts from just the above info alone punched our ticket:

"the stated differences is the placement of the decal lines"

followed shortly thereafter by

"the "illegal" nose on Robby's car was identical to the "legal" nose"

It's always been those identical differences that has us failing subjects throughout life.

A real and potentially revealing question, which none of the Medidiots has seen fit to ask, is the - how long has it been since MOPAR submitted the part for formal certification/approval? One day, two weeks, has it been as yet formally submitted at all?

Too little really known here to warrant much more discussion let alone some form of - "and the fault lies with".

Nose, nose, anything goes. Wasn't that from a cartoon? Is this whole thing anything less?
