MOPAR dominates 500!!

How wonderful was it too see the Dodge teams put the smack down on all the other teams this past Sunday? There is no better feeling then when you see arrogance humbled!! That's what we saw Sunday. Since Speedweeks started all they talked about was the Hendricks Chevy's and the Gibbs Toyota's. But in the end the Dodge boys came up and slapped them all.
I know NASCAR, the media and millions of fans were hoping for a nice "wine and cheese/ love fest party" in victory lane but instead the MOPAR boys crashed the party and they brought plenty of Miller Lite and Jim Beam... And the King brought cherrios!!!
Maybe this was all planned. Everyone knows how NASCAR is always competing with the NFL so maybe after the big superbowl shocker they had to think of something to top that....
Again.... Arrogance Humbled.

Re: MOPAR dominates 500!!

Being a Petty fan, I can appreciate the Dodge enthusiasm, but I might suggest allowing a few races be run before we get to carried away and crow about the Dodges.

I know I was surprised, and certainly expect to see things level out!

Re: MOPAR dominates 500!!

Dodge might get it handed to them for the rest of the season but for the 50th running of the "great american race" which according to the media is the only race of the year that matters, dodge came out on top.
It's funny how since chevy and Hedricks got smoked it is now called a boring race. Had GM or Toyota dominated like that it would have been considered one of the greatest off all time. I mean could you imagine if that was Jeff Gordon pushing Jr past Stewart and Kyle Busch?? We'd never hear the end of it!

Re: MOPAR dominates 500!!

Another case where the best car didn't win the race. It happens from time to time, especially on restrictor plate races.

Paraphrasing Phils: one race does not a season make (though the Daytona 500 payday goes a long way in that direction!)

Speaking of the Daytona 500 payday, the Penske boys took home $2.5M and I think Robby is on his way to recouping his lost Dakar $$$!!!

Re: MOPAR dominates 500!!

I'm not saying the best car won the race. I'm saying that Dodge dominated the finishing order. It wasn't like 1 or 2 dodges snuck up there at the end like what happens a lot in restrictor plate races. But they put like 8 of thier cars in the top 15. I can't remember when any one else has done that.
It just makes the media eat a lot of crow...AGAIN!! because they didn't even mention dodge all week. Even on wind tunnel after the race Sunday night DW admitted he only saw the chasis dyno results after the 150's from chevy and toyota and he didn't see dodge or fords. Gee some great investigating reporting going on.
The media just writes what they THINK will sell newspapers and advertising. They have a lot of power but little facts, just like the super bowl and what they are doing now with the presidental elections.

Absolutely right, the more thing change the more they stay the same.
You can gage a drivers TV time by the amount of souvenirs he sells, not that there is anything wrong with that.
Sports are meant to entertain and he who entertains the most gets the spotlight.

Well I guess Hillary and Obama are pretty entertaining then. No sense complaining about that either

just like all the pre-race speculation about the 500, the actual winner won't be known 'till the race is over... until then, enjoy the show or throw your shoe at the TV. can't do much else otherwise...

I would say Toyota dominated but Dodge won.

Indeed! Consider it done!

If the forum would have allowed a one word answer, I would have just given the "Amen"!

Darn, it wouldn't allow me to just type one word, a warning came up saying my reply was too short!!!

I just tried again and it wants at least 10 characters!
