| News Flash ! From the sport section of the Novosibirsk Tribune [Siberia].2/18/08......"Robby Gordon finishes 8th in the Daytona 500".....it goes on to say how well he did against more stronger teams... |

| Re: News Flash ! No doubt he'll get better backing with a multi-car organization. I think he could have a better attitude but at the same time he has desire and that is something not all of them show. He definitely shows his desire to win. |

| Re: News Flash ! I think thats why I like him, because he does have the desire to do it. Unlike alot of them you get the feeling that with him it's not all about the money. Another thing I like about him is the fact that regardless of what Nascar saids or does, Robbie is gonna be Robbie. With most of the others, Nascar can make them whipped little dogs with their tails tucked between their legs in no time.

| Re: News Flash ! I think the purpose of the post is to make the point that you had to go to russia to hear anything about Robbie Gordon's day at the daytona 500. If you are not in a Hendricks or Gibbs car they don't talk about you. Poor Bill Davis can't buy an ad in the paper let alone get a write up about his team. I don't think the Media even mentioned Petty Enterprises finishing 11th!! I use to always think Robbie Gordon was unpopular because he was in the minority in terms of your typical driver but he is deffinetly with the majority in terms of press coverage. |

| Re: News Flash ! The media sets their own agenda and, mostly, they're nothing more than a pack of lemmings. It's up to us and people like us to bring the people and events to the forefront that are important to us. The media will follow once they realize there's no one in their parade except other media. I don't think it was lost on many that Robby finished 8th. I know we certainly celebrated the fact around the Duck's homestead. And Bobby's good finish was also noted. BDR, though they were the foundational 'Yota team in Cup, have not broken thru. However, I would disagree the "can't buy an ad" statement: seems we've heard lots about Villeneuve and his successes(?), plus Blaney keeps showing flashes of brilliance only to fizzle before the end in most cases (usually not his fault) Still he was the highest finishing - and only - BDR car at Daytona at 38th because of an accident. Ya just don't get much media attention at 38th unless you're a superstar. One last thing: why was salysenior reading a Russian newspaper? News from home? (No condemnation, just an odd source of news.)

| Re: News Flash ! I am looking at the sports page from USA today dated Mon 2/18/08 as I type this. The headline says "PENSKE MIGHTIER THAN HORDE" With a nice picture of ryan newman in victory lane. Next to that picture in bold type is a headline saying "three-peat quest off to rough start" under that is a bold typed headline "Junior falls short in hendrick debut" under that another bold typed headline saying "Gordon 39th". Under the picture of newman is a headline that says "hendrick doesn't pick up where it left off" full story 9c. no headlines saying "22 year old kid finishes 5th" "gillette/everham strong again" "Rookie finishes 15th" "Robbie Godon back on track" or "Petty has good run" "Waltrip a year later" It's just so crazy... Ever think BDR entertained the thought of bringing a formula 1 champ in just so he could get some PR?!?! Did the media even mention how strange it was not having Morgan/Mclure racing there. I mean they talked so much about the history of the 500. Think they would say 3 time winner Morgan/Mcclure isn't here because he can't get any PR time. They didn't even bother to show up in hopes of finding something! |
