Red face HMS, I'm Still Scratching My Head!

Why HMS dumped Kyle Busch!

His fly in your face, devil may care racing attitude always puts him in the front. OK I admit he probably doesn't have a huge fan base, but this nut can drive a car like nobody's business. I've seen his car do things that would make most drivers wreck and yet, not only is he able to pull out of it, he's usually able to pull out in front of it.

Even after HMS decided to dump him last year, he stayed true to the team to the end of the season. Now it's a new season and a new team, HSM you might want to watch out for this guy cause he'll have you in his rear view mirror.

I agree. Other than the pub that Jr gets you, and the sales, I think Shrub will be the better driver in the long run.

I'm gonna duck for cover now. The Green Army is gonna get us both!

Hendrick himself was quoted several weeks back indicating that Shrubs showing at the last half of last year, had it been the same the whole year, he (Hendrick) would never even have considered pursuing Jr. Telling.

Good chance Gibbs is going to be quite happy with his (Hendricks) move.

The article was on the NASCAR.com site and was referenced or included in a string here at the time.

I also read that. It was right before they were talking about all the media attention Jr gets and Gordon said all they (HMS) could do was treat Jr as if he was one of them. I remember thinking that after what Hendrick had said and then the comment from Jeff that Jr should feel real welcome there now.

The simple answer is that Dale Jr was looking for a ride, so Hendrick squeezed Kyle out to fit Jr in. Just like he gave up on Ricky Craven and ditched Wally Dallenbach, Brian Vickers and Jerry Nadeau (in mid season no less). That's just what he does.

Rick must have thought so when he was sending Vickers out the door.

Re: HMS, I'm Still Scratching My Head!

Might be all about the money. Jr's fan base is enormous & kyle is just coming around with the fans. Kyle also drives alittle different than Hendrick cares for. How many cars did he tear up last year? And he almost took him & Hamlin out the Daytona race. I think they are both great drivers but if I had to pick one or the other for my business, I would go with Jr.

Mears fits into Hendrick corporate wise. That's what Hendrick is, a corporation. It's like working in the cubicle in the big building.

Busch just didn't fit in in the image of Hendrick. I'm curious to see how Jr. works out. Everyone else who drives there is milk toast white bread personality wise.

No slam meant here, my friend but... You believe he meant that, right?

When he finally decides to become an adult and not just a hotshot kid with a lot of guts, I think you're right. I hope so, anyway.

But, until that maturity comes to pass, I think Junior is the superior driver.

Re: HMS, I'm Still Scratching My Head!

No slam meant here, my friend but... You believe he meant that, right? - I can't possibly know. Failed that "Mind Reading 101" course multiple times. 'Tis why we make effort to keep claims of absolute knowledge "within ourselves" if ye will.

't would only be "slammable" were one to be so foolish to claim absolute clarity of insight to the inner workings of another/others in every instance. Fact is, that claim would most assuredly result in a "slam" eventually.

But, until that maturity comes to pass, I think Junior is the superior driver - Yeah maturity can be a funny and illusive thing. For some it arrives early, for some ----.

Shrub bears watching in the near term. Not so sure the Hendricks release has not accelerated his arrival into the zone of the "mature". If indeed he has arrived, or when he does, we must agree with you that at that time he will then be the superior driver.

Re: HMS, I'm Still Scratching My Head!

Pretty nice little truck race today for the cast off.

Little immaturity, if any, to be seen in his actions, skills, racing or comments.

Maybe I've focused so much on "required maturing" that blinded we were to the pure skill. Nah. Been pretty clear to us for a while - the kid can flat out race.

Three-sweep this weekend. Long shot for anyone, but he's got a good a chance as any who were or would be doing triple duty this weekend.

Impressive.
