Mears is Johnson's best friend. He will keep his trap shut and race what he gets. Cheaper driver. Won't question Rick, and will stay in line. Will be a better teammate to Johnson and Gordon, meaning gets out of their way.

i agree 100% kyle is a great driver for his young age he would be the better driver.but gibbs picked him up and now they have two very young and talented drivers in hamlin and busch and a very skilled veteran in stewart so look out for gibbs.

Re: HMS, I'm Still Scratching My Head!

Rick Hendrick wants the best drivers he can get for the NASCAR Sprint Cup series. Over the years he has had several drivers for his cars. He operates very similar to an NFL franchise. He gets who he needs at their prime and get results. Kyle Busch didn't seem to fit in the mix of drivers as well as others. Dale Jr. was looking for a ride and Hendrick took the chance. So far, so good. Here is the list of drivers for Hendrick Motorsports and All Star Racing:
  • Geoff Bodine
  • Dick Brooks
  • Tim Richmond
  • Benny Parsons
  • Kenny Schrader
  • Ricky Craven
  • Rick Rudd
  • Darrell Waltrip
  • Jeff Gordon
  • Jimmy Johnson
  • Casey Mears
  • Kyle Busch
  • David Green
  • Brian Vickers
  • Jack Sprague
  • Todd Bodine
  • Randy LaJoie
  • Wally Dallenback
  • Jerry Nadeau
  • Joe Nemechek
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Re: HMS, I'm Still Scratching My Head!

Seems that Kyle Busch fits in personality-wise with the other Gibbs drivers quite well. I think it was a good move for him. Hendrick may or may not end up regretting letting him go.
