Talking DEJ Melancholy After Daytona 500

DEJ, why so melancholy after the Daytona 500?

Jeez Dale, you ran a great race and were the only HMS driver to have a respectable finish. Casey Mears crashed, Jeff Gordon's car broke, and I don't know what happened to Jimmie!

Drivers who should be melancholy:
Kyle Busch (Deserved to Win)
Tony Stewart (Should've Won)
Clint Bowyer (What's with JP?!)

Great team effort Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch!

Observation:
That punch to Kurt Busch by Tony Stewart couldn't have hurt as bad as Kurt's punch back in the final seconds of the Daytona 500!

Re: DEJ Melancholy After Daytona 500

how is Kurt being a jerk ???

he ran a great race, didn't hear any bad mouthing of jr. when jr. about caused the big one.
he pushed his team mate to the win. instead of hanging him out, and give penske thier first rescrictor plete win and fist 1-2 finish.

I just don't see hows he's being a jerk, did I miss something ????

did you not see the video of kurt repeatingly slaming his car into stewarts car?and if you remember stewart isnt the first driver to have punched him,j.spencer has also punched kurt so he obviously is a person no one in the garage area really like.

Re: DEJ Melancholy After Daytona 500

I don't want to rehash the entire Stewart/Busch incident(s), but I got a kick out of the announcers commenting that Busch actually gave Stewart the ol' bump draft to push him forward at one point during the race.

I'm glad Newman won. Nice for a change. Busch pushed him to the win without a doubt. Still doesn't score any points with me.

As for DEJ, he's been on such a high, and wants to win so bad, of course he was disappointed. He just didn't have the car to beat.

The season has just begun, and based on what I've seen, it's gonna be a good one!

youre using Tony Stewart and Jimmy Spencer to determine if someone is a jerk ? ..... seems a bit shaky logic to me

maybe Jr was melancholy because he felt bad about slamming into Busch and sending him threw the grass

Based on his behavior, both on and off the track over the past few years, Kurt has earned the name "jerk" (and I've got a better name than that, but I don't want to get banned) all on his own.

As for Jr. being melancholy because he "slammed" Busch and sent him through the grass ... no comment.

Don't want to turn this into a Busch Thread, but how many other drivers can you think of in the past five years who have been punched in the face?

Neither do I. Never thrown or been the recipient of a punch.

Friendly banter here, Simon, but what about Kurt's assault with his car under caution on Tony? In addition to this year's antics, he almost took out one of Tony's pit crew last year.

We're off Topic ... sorry.

Maybe, maybe not. Athletes in general seem to be agressive and confidant by nature. I sure don't agree with assualt charges.

If so, then Busch can be charged with assualt with a deadly weapon for ramming Tony's car after the accident.

I think that charge would carry more weight!

But we are way off topic from Jr being Melencholy!

Kurt has done some of the dumbest things i have ever seen with a car ..... by a long-shot no doubt about it ...... he should have been suspended after both incidents imo

i do think Tony was wrong on the track during practice before the 500 .... but that in no way makes it ok for Kurt to hit him in the pits
