Results from the qual duals

In the first race
Kenny Wallace
Brian Vickers

Second Race
Dale Jarret
John Andretti

Brian Vickers came back from a spin to get in.

In the second race Micheal Waltrip led a good part of the first 30 laps then dropped back. Ruetimann was in the back from a black flag on the start. Together they literally pushed Dale Jarret to the front - at one point Jarret went from almost dead last to up to 4-5th and wound up finishing 9th I think. Ruetimann got passed on the last turn to not race in and having to fall back on his qual speed, that left Boris Said going home. If Reutimann held off for one more turn Said would have gone in from his qualifying time.

congrat to John Andretti.....thats a big deal making the field

Jarrett wouldnt have made the field without help from his teammates. Michael did all he could to push him to the front and then block for him.

I dont much like the blocking.....and it could upset some other drivers i reckon

Yea, he dropped back to push the 44 to a transfer spot........then block anyone from trying to pass him. Welcome to team racing folks.

Yeah I wasn't happy about that, even though my driver benefitted from it.

Guess this is product of the "Top 35" thing. Can hardly blame them/anyone for doing what they must.

Re: Results from the qual duals

I noticed talking to a few people that they thought it was wrong for Mikey to do that. What I don't understand is, what's the difference in him doing that and JJ helping push Jr? I didn't see anything wrong with what Mikey did.

Re: Results from the qual duals

Like a previous post said, Welcome to team racing!! I don't think you will see so much of it at the non-restrictor races. At D and T, you've got to have friends and with quality team mates you've got them. The trick now is for the single car teams to find buddies or be smart enough to tag along with the team freight trains when they go by.

Nothing wrong with what Mikey did and its kind of exciting to see him have equipment with the speed to pull it off. Come race time though, he's going to have to have help from the 44 or they will both end up out of contention. Sorry, but yesterday looked like a charity auction to get DJ into the race. I would have liked to see Boris make it since he seemed to have everything except friends.

Re: Results from the qual duals

Personally, I like the team racing to a degree. I think it lends that much more strategy to the racing, even though it's very unfair to the single car teams.

Re: Results from the qual duals

I don't have a problem with it considering all the qualifying rules like the top 35 - the past champion provisional etc....

I'd rather see a driver who drafted with a teammate get in with at least an on track performance than the other.

I think I probably already know how most of you will respond, but what are your thoughts on franchising?

Re: Results from the qual duals

Ask Boris Said what he thinks of Franchising....

Yesterday said it came down to "Nascar did not want me in this race".....umm ok.
