The whole "thing" going on just now (Speed Channel) is a bit surprising. It's practice like we've rarely seen before. The level of blocking, and other "aggressive behavior" has us surprised. The Kurt/Tony thing referred to here needs (here/for us) a bit more study. Appears at first look to be stupid followed by stupid. NASCAR has "invited" both to the trailer. "Practice, we're talkin' about practive" - Allen Iverson - circa 2007. Me thinks it hard to envision the race to be much more aggressive than the current practice being televised. It's WWF world. | Re: Kurt Bush Bob, the contact that started it all could go either way. Jr came out and said that Tony tried to pass low, and was blocked by Kurt, then tried to pass high, and, using his words, "Kurt ran himself into Tony's car and the wall". You could make the point of why is it so critical to pass like that in practice, and I'd be OK with that. However, Once Kurt got his car back running forward, he ran into Tony at least twice, then again on pit road. You could hear Zippy on the radio telling him to just let it go, then some of Tony's guys came out to pit road as they were trying to sort out who was going to get to the garage first. Keep in mind the red flag was out, and ALL cars were heading to the garage and pits. Tony may not have been clean in this, but Kurt is covered in mud, and he should be made to sit out the Shootout. That is the only thing that matter to these guys, and that is what I want to see. A face to face bout in the garage would be fine, but not ramming into someone at what was probably still 100 mph. Enough of Kurt. More than enough. As I'm typing this, Kasey Kahne just said that Tony had a fast line of cars pushing him to the front, and Kurt was blocking. Biffle also said something to that effect, but was a bit more diplomatic. He said he didn't want to judge anyone. I'm just seething at the Blue Deuce, and we haven't run a lap yet I'm mad, but happy at the same time! It's just great to talk racing! |

| Re: Kurt Bush I'd say it was Kurt Busch all the way. Why the hell is he blocking during practice? Was because Tony was behind him? I don't think Tony tried to put him in the wall. I think he was just trying to be aggressive with him because that is how Kurt was acting towards him. Kurt just ending up in the wall. I like how Tony was blocking Kurt. You could see Tony trying to unbuckle his belts he really wanted to talk to Kurt right then and there. Kurt being the pansy that he is was trying his hardest to get to the garage. I really hope Tony decks the crap out of him. I am really surprised Jimmy Spencer hasn't said anything on Speed. Some thing along the lines of not learning his lesson yet. |

| Re: Kurt Bush Well, it certainly isn't gonna take long to see how NASCAR handles what they said they were going to let the drivers do. But it will surprise me if they let Bush get away with using his car as a battering ram coming down pit lane. There's no excuse for that from anyone...that goes way beyond letting drivers show a little personality. On the other hand, this has the makings of a good old fashioned rivalry. Something that's been sadly missing from NASCAR for too long. |

"I don't think this was what our boy Lollipop (Brian) had in mind when he indicated that he was "going to let the drivers show more personality." Maybe this is EXACTLY what he meant; "Go on out there and act like children. Give the fans something to talk about and just maybe THAT might put more butts in the seats!" Somewhere in this thread I read a reference to WWF. Possibly quite appropo? |

| Re: Kurt Bush So THAT'S what they were talking about on Trackside! I turned it on just to see what they were talking about, and it was Kurt Busch and Stewart. I thought they were talking about the incident last year. I didn't keep it on very long, but DW said something like "Pushing or shoving someone is one thing, like Harvick and Montoya or Gordon and (someone I don't remember), but when the cars get involved, that's ... " Then Jeff Hammond didn't like that, so he grabbed the announcer next to him (I forget his name ... was a DEI crew chief ... Larry?) and said something like "Are you saying that this is ok?" Then I changed the channel. I had no idea there was a Kurt Busch incident again! Man, you guys are fast! Now I have to go back and read all these posts so I know what happened!

Well, 11 of the 23 cars in the shootout have some damage, so tomorrow is gonna be a real crap shoot! |
