Officials of Petty Enterprises showed off their new shop Wednesday, and things got a bit emotional. Petty moved out of its old race shop in Level Cross, N.C., during the offseason and moved into the shop that used to house Robert Yates Racing in Mooresville. The old shop was a piece of racing history for older fans and it was, literally, home for Richard Petty and Kyle Petty. Richard Petty, NASCAR's record-holder for wins and current patriarch of the team, confided that "it was hard for me to make the decision" to move operations. The old shop, which was founded by Richard's father Lee Petty almost 60 years ago, now sits virtually empty. "It was a lot more emotional for me (to move) than I thought it would be," Kyle Petty said. "It's hard to walk back through the place and no cars and nobody working on them."
