| NASCAR in "preliminary" discussions for Denver track? NASCAR auto racing officials today reiterated that they are exploring the possibility of building a racetrack development in the Denver area, but made no commitment to a partnership with the National Western Stock Show. "We know there is substantial demand for NASCAR racing in the Denver metropolitan region. As such, we continue to evaluate the possibility of pursuing a public-private partnership to develop a national-level motorsports entertainment facility in the market," said Wes Harris, spokesman for Daytona Beach, Fla. - based International Speedway Corp. "While we have had preliminary discussions with a number of interested parties, including the National Western Stock Show, we are not involved in any negotiations at this time." -- Denver Post The Denver Post - NASCAR calls stock show discussions "preliminary" |

| Re: NASCAR in "preliminary" discussions for Denver track? they're claiming there's a market in the Denver area. If that's so, why'd they close down Pike's Peak and put it up for sale with the stipulation that it can't be used as a race track? methinks they're trying to manufacture some demand... tsh, tsh, tsh.

| Re: NASCAR in "preliminary" discussions for Denver track? Not the point.... they have a race ready track that is proven can sell out in a heart beat, won't give it a cup date, all the while tryin to build new race tracks. They closed pikes peak claimin no market, yet they want to build a new track in Denver. And they will only sell Pikes Peak to someone as long as they don't use it for racin. ANTITRUST!

| Re: NASCAR in "preliminary" discussions for Denver track? Denver has a good market and major sports are trying to get there. The NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL all have teams there. The UFC will have a fight night there in April. I can see why NASCAR wants a Denver track. |

Why they want to do away with a perfectly good track and replace it with another, at a very high cost because real estate in the Denver metro area is quite pricey, is beyond me. They let this good track, within 11/2 hours of Denver sit dormant while they try to build in Denver? Then add in the question: Will the Denver area support NASCAR the way the fans in the Louisville/Cincinnati area have proven they will support it? This entire things stinks to high heaven. I've voiced my objection to ISC, as a ISC stock holder but I look to get the standard form letter, "Thank you for your concern...blah, blah, blah" reply. I repeat: this entire deal has an odor about it.

Correction, I can see why NASCAR is considering races in Denver |
