Teammates Pulling Over/Leading a Lap

Well, in Richmond's race, Biffle just pulled over and let Mark Martin lead a lap. I can't stand that. In fact, I'm going to use the "H" word, hate. What's your opinion? Do you have an opinion?

Well, Smoke, I think I have to agree with you! If you can get by on your own, that's different, but to wave you on by, I don't like that either, especially when they don't work together through the race, or even come close to working together at the end of the race. Nobody will do that on the last lap! So, why will they do it earlier in the race? If you do that all year long, your teammate could pass you in the points, I can't image your sponsor is going to like that! But then again, maybe everybody gets a pay-off.

Re: Teammates Pulling Over/Leading a Lap

This is a tough vote but great question. When you belong to a multi car team and car "A" is in contention for the chase but clearly will not win the race of the day, the owner of the team(s) may tell you to let car "A" get a lap in the front for the 5 points. If car "B" has no chance at the chase but is having a great race day or great run at the moment, the $pon$or$ want air time so naturally the owner needs to keep the $pon$or$ happy.

All in all I am against it unless they are going to bow to the request from other teams and we all know that is not going to happen.

Now that this subject is settled will someone please let me lead the predictions race this week ???

Thank$ Goth ...... I'll never forget you for this favor. Keep in mind that when I tap you in the bumper and spin you around and cause a 10 car pile up .... "it's just a racin' deal". No harm will be intended.

I voted yes.....that's what teamwork is...they share stuff in the garage, heck.....I recall Ryan Newman driving with red tires one race...that he borrowed from someone ....teamork is as teamwork does

Of course, we all know that the gloves are off with about 20 laps to go...yiii-hah!!!

Yeah, I know. Why give a guy 5 extra points even if he's your teammate? It's still your team vs. his at the end of the race. And good point Team Yates made too, your teammate might pass you up in points if you keep doing it.

Re: Teammates Pulling Over/Leading a Lap

Also keep in mind, as I stated earlier, if Jack Rousch says move over and let Matt Kenseth lead a lap .... what are you gonna do ?????

Does Jack Rousch play favortism? In my own opinion if I was the driver I would think "Are you driving Jack? What about my points to get to the chase?" Sorry couldn't resist!

Re: Teammates Pulling Over/Leading a Lap

Trust me no argument over your statement but the owner is the one signing the check and you gotta believe if Rousch, Yates, Evernham or whoever says let driver "X" lead a lap, you better be letting that driver lead a lap. All the more reason for one car teams !!! Like that is going to happen.

Well, I would probably act like I had a radio transmission problem. "What? What was that? Sorry, I can't hear you. Hello? Hello? Guys, we better change out my radio on the next pit stop... 5 minutes later... "Hey guys, my radio is working again."

Re: Teammates Pulling Over/Leading a Lap

I think this thread shows flaws in NASCAR's scoring system and one of the problems with multiple car teams. The only place for teamwork is in each individual pit. On the track there should be no teamwork. Isn't racing all about who can get to the finish line first?

aaaaahhh...but how you get to the finish line is all part of racing!

How many races were won cause a "team mate" blocked a driver that was a'coming so the leader ( the other team mate)could stay out front??? We don't know anyone that ever did that in a race huh? (#3)

How's that for reverse psychology?
