Because the league I'm in is made for GTG forum members. And no I don't want to join your money league.

You posted an open invite. We all can see it. If anyone wants to join, they'll be in touch. No need to keep bringing it up.

So there you go, if anyone's interested in running two leagues this year.
I am there.

There is one which I have been in for two years and Clutch and I were in it last year. It's simple.
Ok, fellow GTG members, I want to take the plunge here. I have never done any kind of fantasy league and checking out the link made my liver quiver a little. These days my IQ is barely above that of a house plant, so I will need major, big time hand holding. Now that I said I'm in, what do I do? See, I wasn't kidding. Gray matter flatulence happening here. I hope you people have a sense of humor because this could get down right hysterical.

Re: Fantasy League

from the fantasy home page, on the right side you'll see a section called "teams & Leagues", under "auto racing" you'll see your team name .. click on it. Under the "Save Selections" button are 4 links. click and read. when done, come back to your team page and click "select" next to "A List", then pick 2 drivers, and then the submit button. next click "select" next to "B List" and do the same as for the "A List" except select 4 drivers. Then do the same for the "C List" (only 2 for the "C list). Once done with all that, check the box next the drivers you want to "activate" for the next race (in this case the Daytona 500) .. you must check 1 of the A drivers, 2 of the B drivers and 1 of the C drivers. when done, click submit selections. now you have two choices: 1) wait to see how you did or 2) change your mind and go make different selections. you have until 2AM the night before qualifying to make team selections and, I believe, 5 minutes before the race starts to activate your drivers. you will only get race points for activated drivers, but will get qualifying points for all of your drivers (that's why you can't change your team after the pre-qualifying deadline.) The main thing is to have fun, learn a little about the drivers, especially those you don't know much about, and try to pick the best team for every race. make it as hard or as easy as you want. just remember the deadlines and you don't have to pick a new team if you're satisfied with the one you have (but remember, each driver can only be activated for 9 races, so at some point you'll need to replace drivers...)

Re: Fantasy League

OK, I'm in Yahoo, but I have a question.

I can't find the rules for the league anywhere. How often do you have to change your team? Weekly, monthly, when?

Could someone please advise?

Now I have to wait until Dan's league starts up...

Re: Fantasy League

I'm having problems finding the rules as well, and I need to consult them to decide which drivers I'm gonna take a risk on.

Re: Fantasy League

My guess is that most of us who are joining this league will need Ducky to guide us. If he wins I may have serious issues !!!

you can change your team as often as you want. Unlike some leagues, each player has the entire roster of drivers to choose from. look at my response to space cadet for general help (it's the post just preceding yours.) those four links on the bottom of your team page have all the rules necessary to handle most things you want to do. basically there's just a few that are important:
  • a driver can only be used (activated) for 9 races, after that you cannot select them nor can you get points from them
  • there are 3 groups of drivers from which you choose your team: the A group (choose 2, 1 active), B group (choose 4, 2 active) and C group (choose 2, 1 active). basically they are grouped as they finished the season in points. some drivers may not be in any group, thus are not available for choosing .. however they might be added during the season (it's all up to Yahoo!)
  • for every race you will have 8 drivers selected as your team, but only 4 activated - the team gets qualifying points (I think it's just the top 3 or 4), but only the activated drivers get race points. the deadline to select your team is 2AM the night before qualifying, the deadline for activating drivers is (I think) 5 mins before the race starts
  • strategy is important because some drivers are strong on one type of track but not on another. also you need to "save" your hard hitters for the Chase, so don't use them up in the first segment!
now, if you go to this link and click on "Season Guide", there's a 75 page Adobe PDF "booklet" that will give you lots and lots of information including rules and some strategy stuff.

If ya still have questions, just ask...

be prepared to have "serious issues", 'cause I intend to win.

and, no, I will not give advice on which drivers to select for which races.

I have my own system that's some stats, some black magic and a finger in the wind (I cannot divulge which finger.)
