| Petty move will help attract high-quality talent There is another issue with the Petty shop. It is 59 miles from the NASCAR world of Mooresville. Petty Enterprises have occasionally been able to attract high-quality people but except for Robbie Loomis they have been unable to keep them for the most part. A move to Mooresville ought to correct that problem. In fact, moving to Mooresville may already be paying dividends. It was announced several weeks ago Jeff Meendering has left his position as Jeff Gordon's car chief and will take over as Bobby Labonte's crew chief. It's a pretty safe bet Loomis had something to do with that. -- Truro Daily News, Canada The Truro Daily News, Nova Scotia : Sports | Petty Enterprises enters 2008 optimistic |

He definitely has it in him, it's just the Petty Equipment just doesn't deliver at the moment. However they do look to be one of the smaller teams that has what it takes to turn themselves around and become legit contenders again. |

I hope so. He ran in the top 10 all night in Bristol, and qualified well for a lot of races. I really think Bobby biggest issue in his two years there has been stability at the crew chief position. He has yet to end the year with the same one he started with. Let's hope year three at PE changes that! |

| Re: Petty move will help attract high-quality talent Well PE is starting to run out of excuses. With the COT the body will not be an issue, because every team will be running th same one. Engines are taken care of thanks to GEM. They only thing PE really needs to focus on is chassis. If they can put a good chassis under Bobby he could be a contender again. Out of all the teams running GEM equipement last year Bobby was the best. So I know he still has the talent, they just need to get consistant about the cars. |
