| Winners Showing Off After the Race Never seen this before, Jr cut a tire there on Lap 401. Saw them taking pics of him with that tire in the post race show. It was kinda funny but did get me to thinking... is there any real chance that hot dogging & doing donuts after the race could go REALLY wrong? I mean, I know they're not gonna have a 20 car pile up at 190+ but what's the chance of somebody getting hurt or somehow hurting a fan/crew? My wife said "doesn't that stink?" when Jr started sending smoke into the stands & I told her that the crowd was loving it. In the era of risk management & Hamlin's hand injury, do you guys think there's any chance that NASCAR (or the owners) cuts back on the post race show boating stuff?

| Re: Winners Showing Off After the Race Seems to me that the burn outs have been going on for years and years now. With the track pretty much enclosed I can't see any fans getting hurt. Naturally it is possible that it could occur so I won't say they will never get hurt. As for crew members ... I would hope that they know enough to stay out of the way at that point. They more so than anyone should know that tires can blow and I'm sure a variety of other problems could occur. The burn out seems to be something the fans wait to see and until something negative happens I think they should leave it alone right now.

| Re: Winners Showing Off After the Race Lord knows they seem to clamp down on almost anything safety related.... all they need is someone to complain (or sue) about 2nd hand smoke............................................. ............................. |

Either way, that's gonna sure make it harder for him to drive... |

| Re: Winners Showing Off After the Race I don't think the smokey burnouts are concerning anyone. They are on the track by themselves, still strapped into their racecars, so the drivers are safe. Plus, I've never heard of anyone dieing because of tire smoke inhalation. But I did see a discussion on Wind Tunnel or similar show, about drivers getting out of their cars doing celebrations, such as Stewart climbing the fence and getting into the flag stand or Kurt Buschs Snow Angel debacle. I suppose a driver could injure himself doing that. At least Nascar drivers don't taunt their fellow competitors as some sports do. If I ever see a Cup driver get out of his car and do a Terrel Owens or Deion Sanders type of celebration.........that's when I'm done with racing. |

| Re: Winners Showing Off After the Race What a silly thing to worry about...a sport, by its very nature, holds some degree of injury possibility...that's part of the business...if the guys want to celebrate, let them the heck alone. God knows we have almost so many restrictions now that the sport is nearly regulated to a "sand-box" environment...I do suppose, though, that depression pills should be issued to the #24 fans for the DNF (both of them)...a whole week of lugging a DNF around could be tramatic...kinda like the disgruntled postal employee. On a brighter note: did y'all hear the crowd when the #8 corssed the finish line? What a roar! Guess that pretty much settles who is favored by the vast majority! TN GAL: 2nd hand smoke? that's good...could that also be a used race car with the #20 on the side? |

| Re: Winners Showing Off After the Race I must say that I was nervous when Tony started climbing the fences. All I could envision was what would you do when you got to the top and couldn't find an easy, safe way down ?? I like to see Edwards do his signature flip but what'll happen if he goofs and lands on his head ?? I think they should stick with the burnout and the Polish victory lap. |

| Re: Winners Showing Off After the Race One of my favorite victory celebrations was the All Star challenge of '91 or '92. Davy Allison won the race but wrecked at the line. He was OK but had no car for Victory Lane. |
