Here's a shocker

RacingOne.com has a poll every week and the latest one, is which Gibbs driver will win first with the new Toyota powerplants. The results are surprising to say the least......

RacingOne - Nascar Racing: Auto Racing, Nascar News, Racing News, Nascar Online, Nascar 2006, Nascar Drivers, Nascar, Racing, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson

I'm not shocked that some think Kyle will be Gibb's first win (I think that there is a definite possibility that a non-Gibbs car will be the Rice Burner's first Cup win). But I am amazed at the difference between Kyle and Smoke. Can it be that, because of the way Busch was unceremoniously let go in favour of Junior, that Kyle is, in some weird way, actually linked to Junior?

76% is not what I would have expected. I've got to ponder this one a bit...

I think that it is partly due to the latest shunnin in the Hendrick Camp. I think the rest of it is, due to the fact that everyone thinks Kyle will push it to the max just to get a win.

That was my point Bob, not that Kyle will be the first to win, but the landslide of voters thinking he will.

Re: Here's a shocker

Found self with first/gut response to this question to go with Shrub also. Then asked self why?

Took the first/gut response and found it to be observation that at end of this year (2007) of the choices Shrub seemed to be the one demonstrating the best effort/results. Remember, this is the "gut" - did not go anal on it.

The predominant thought counter to the initial gut response was a question regarding (wondering) who Shrub would be partnered with as crew chief, whether that individual was strong, and whether the teaming with Shrub would be a good one.

If Shrub and team gel, good to fair possibility Gibbs, at the end of 2008, may well find themselves having got the better of the deal/swap/change provided by HMS. Will be interesting to watch/see.

Re: Here's a shocker

Kyle's got the drive to get that win and to prove himself as a force to be reckoned with. But that Yota motor still has a lot of proving to be done. I dont think Smoke gives a hoot. I believe Denny figures he's on the way out and will get the crap of the machines, so his attitude is going to be in the drain and halfway out to sea. Sort of like what we saw Junior had to deal with last year. I still dislike the decision that NASCAR granted a green card to them rice burners. I said it before and I'll say it again, "Real stock cars dont have green cards".

My feelings also, IRT Hamlin. I just don't think he feels the love at JGR that he once did. His saving grace may be the investment FedEx has in the car. Anyone know when Denny's contract is due for renewal?

IRT the Toyota's... This thought might put a smile on your face (or make you want to stick your head in an oven:
NA__AR wants a minimum of four competitive manufacturers... The financial concern who bought out Daimler's part of Chrysler has made it pretty plain that they really don't see investing in competition will give a good return on their money... Historically, whenever Honda enters into racing in any series, Toyota soon follows. Historically, the converse is also true...

Does all this make your heart go pitty-pat?

I've been trying lately not to think about the heart going pitty-pat. I can settle with a simple thump-thump.

Although this does seem to get me to running to the bathroom real fast to sit on the toilet with my head in a bucket. To come out both ends at once it's got to be a bad bug. I think it's called TOY ONDA BITE US

Normally, I would have mentioned Mazdazzling, but they're more committed to the open wheel circuits than closed wheel...
