| Racing Calls - Race Officials / Judging Many are inclined to question "calls", associated penalties, or simply make comment/opinion with regard to racing incidents "observed" and the decisions of the governing officials/body. Most have not actually ever committed themselves to accepting the responsibility to learn, then commit to involvement in "governing body" contribution and decisions. While the following is most certainly not pure and specific "NASCAR", it is indeed a very good tutorial that helps one towards understanding at the best a neophyte level (everything starts at a first step) of just what it is one must understand, observe, and make instantaneous judgement upon as a responsible member of a motorsports governing body interested in the betterment of the sport. PLEASE do not even make the decision to follow the link below until you are willing to truly devote your mind and time (30 minutes) to trying to observe and learn. I've done the job that the video is targeted towards. For years. At different levels. It is not for the uninterested or for the casual or passing "fan". It demands attention, devotion, and an ability to ignore the uneducated/inexperienced, for it is they (the uneducated/inexperienced) who offer the most ignorable, yet vocal, of critical observation. Should one feel challenged by what is seen, go find the local club, join the national organization (you can do so without a participating driver), get involved (tape the Sunday races and fast forward over the commercials - we did for years), and you'll come out the back end with more understanding of Motorsport/NASCAR/et al than anyone who remains 50 feet from their 'fridge on Sunday. If nothing else, you'll be able to more quickly identify the "know nothings" and avoid any comment to their observations (?) and incoherent ramblings and claims. REMEMBER - if not willing to devote 30 minutes - wait till ya are. Enjoy! We did for years and years. Quarter Midgets of America |
