Re: If I Could Drive In NASCAR

I would be able to win, lose, place, or show at my choice every single event. Then I would do so in a manner that made the current contrived "points system" inconsistent with its most current goals(s) until a clamor arose insisting that a change be made to prevent my performance (or similar by another) from ever again resulting in the crowning of a champion with like performance over the course of a season.

Then I would drive the next season in a manner that would corrupt the new points system. Remember now - I would be able to win, lose, place, or show at my choice every single event.

Gimme a break - It's winter, were increasingly shut in. The dog chasing its tail is looking pretty entertaining.

Then there's the - Crack of Dawn.

Re: If I Could Drive In NASCAR

I'm solidly in PPS's corner here. I don't idolize any sports figure nor would I want to be them or even "hang out" with any of them. I'm perfectly happy being Bob Tanner.

But, IF I were to have a NASCAR dream...

I'd go back to the "formative years" of my early 20's. You know. The years when you're bullet-proof and fearless and have more guts and ambition than you have sense. I'd like to be running a 1964 Studebaker Hawk GT with the R4 performance package. I'd have Smokey Yunick build and maintain them for me and I'd have Andy Granatelli putting up the money.

Yeah, I know... Some of you "seasoned citizens" out there will remember that the Hawk had only 304 cu.in. in its R4 configuration and I'd be competing against the 426's, 427's and 428's. With Smokey's abilities and Granatelli's money I don't think I'd have too much of an advantage over them, do you?

Kinda like they did for Taz?

Re: If I Could Drive In NASCAR

I think I would just wanna drive for the King! Of course, I'd wanna have some better equipment than they have had for the last 20 years, but that would be cool!

Driving the 43 would be awesome!
