Winning races and taking home trophies mean everything in the world to NASCAR drivers such as Carl Edwards. So, it was no small gesture when Edwards handed over his trophy for winning September's Dodge Dealers 400 Nextel Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway to David Glatter, a 23-year-old resident of Yonkers, N.Y., on Wednesday afternoon. Well, Edwards will always have memories of his post-race backflip celebration off the side of his race car from that afternoon in Dover. Gary Camp, the director of public relations at Dover International Speedway, actually drove the unique "Monster Trophy" up to Glatter at Cerebral Palsy of Westchester (CPW) located in Rye Brook, N.Y., in the speedway's pace car. "To give away a trophy that's so coveted among drivers to somebody that he has forged a bond with is amazing," Camp said. "This is the second trophy that Carl Edwards has given to him." Though Edwards was unable to attend, he has corresponded over the last several years with Glatter, who has multiple disabilities and takes part in Cerebral Palsy of Westchester's Home Service Program. Glatter was thrilled to receive yet another trophy from Edwards.
