I'm NOT going to say "Happy Holidays" because I don't want to offend anyone who isn't a Christian - but there would be none of this so-called "holiday season" if it weren't for "Christmas" right?

Anyhow, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!! Happy New Year too!
Good for you, Gnome. I have it on good authority that everytime someone wishes someone "Happy Holidays," instead of "Merry Christmas," an elf dies somewhere.

I'm all for elf preservation.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Sam Kitty and Little Miss Squish says to all "Meowy Christmas and Happy Mew Year"

To the extremely dense of mind those 2 are cats. And make more sense than some "intelligent" humans.

Seahawker, unlike many, I do not celebrate "Xmas" as I can find no reason to celebrate a Mass for "X".

I prefer, instead, to celebrate "Christmas" because then I am celebrating a Mass for "Christ". If you, too, celebrate "Christmas", then please don't substitute "X" for "Christ"...

After all, He is the reason for the season, not "X".

Which ever way you choose, I appreciate your well wishes and I wish you a Merry Christmas.

Well said Duck. The reason for the season is for the son named Jesus

Re: Merry Christmas From LSC9901

I, too, wish all a very Merry Christmas. And, at the risk of being accused of being politically correct, not all celebrate Christmas. I have many friends of different religions and cultures, some who read this site, so Happy or Merry Whatever You Celebrate to all of you lurkers. (I know you're out there, you guys!) Being part Jewish and part Catholic, I don't want to leave anyone out. I am a very confused person, however, ha ha. Anyway, enjoy this special time of year, no matter who/what you are!

The way I, personally, look at it, Kate, is that I celebrate Christmas and I wish everyone to share in my happiness. If they take offense at the very word, "Christmas," it's their problem, not mine. I just refuse to make it so.

And I still believe that every time some one plays the PC card and wishes someone "Happy Holidays," when they really mean "Merry Christmas," somewhere near Santa's Workshop, an elf dies.

Believe it or not, I have actually known one person who took, and still takes, major offense at the word "Christmas". Frankly, she makes me ill. The local high school puts lights in all the windows at this time of year. She objected, saying it was a Christian custom. She's Jewish. Having both a Menorah and a Christmas tree on the lawn was not enough. I tried to explain that the Christmas tree is not a religious symbol, nor are the lights. The lights mean welcome, which is why so many leave lights burning in their window during war time - to welcome home our troops. It's secular. Doesn't matter. So now in our district, the elementary kids can't have Christmas parties or trees, thanks to this #####. No matter what the district offered to represent all religions, it wasn't enough. She actually hired a lawyer and sued. So now when I see her I make sure to wish her a very Merry Christmas, indeed. She called me a Jew hater, and considering my heritage, I found great pleasure in letting her know what an a$$ she is. I love Christmas and the spirit in which it is to be celebrated. She apparently missed the point. I have no problem with Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah (Chanukah, if you prefer) or Happy Kwanza. They all mean the same thing. Peace, love and joy to all. Sorry such a long post but I literally still burn over this woman. Being a crank in the name of religion irks me just a tad. Gives religion a bad name. Some people just want others to be as miserable as they are, I guess.

The most of your post SC just lifted my spirits. It has been a hell of a bad day, but it was all just wiped away by that post.
Thank You.

You're right about a lot of our Christmas traditions not being based on religion. I am reading a book on the history of them and actually the original celebrations were not based on any faith at all. Quite the opposite.
Even some of the local schools now call them Holiday Programs.
Its what you believe in and how you feel about it but the main thing is tolerance for all beliefs, or non beliefs. As for your Jewish "friend" what's the difference between wishing her a Merry Christmas or if she were to offer you greetings of Shalom? Darn, the one time of the year mankind is full of peace and good will, and she wants to put a wrench in the works. Not a very good representative of the Jewish faith, is she??
