I don't think the NYC officials were too happy but action like that is what will win over the stick&ball fans in The Big Apple.

I was listening to it live on SIRIUS they were reporting that some cops were scowling and others were pumping their fists in the air?

After the event was over they interviewed the drivers in The Hard Rock. They asked Kyle if he expected anything to be said about his doing three burnouts (he said his clutch wasn't working right) and his nerfing Matt (his alibi for this was he saw Matt had fallen a bit being Jeffie and he he thought he might be having engine problems and he was just trying to push him to keep up?). Kyle's reply was, "I don't think Mr. Hendrick will let me drive the #5 again."

Bad news is, NYC will no longer allow the parade. It's the end of the racecars actually driving through the streets of the Big Apple!

I don't think the Big Apple will host the NASCAR Banquet again either...

So, what's the down side? Do you want to make a guess about how many work hours are lost because traffic in mid town is hosed up because of the NA__AR parade?

Rooms in Manhattan are at a premium, small, expensive and the average room is below average in quality.
The city has only the most marginal of interest in NA__AR. It's a refuge for stick&ball.
The Waldorf is too small. NA__AR has outgrown it.

My solution is to leave it where it is for one or two more years, then move it to Charlotte when the HOF opens its doors. These guys are on the road almost every day. Let them have their banquet in their home town, in a place where there can be some sort of fan involvement.

Amen, my friend! I've been saying that since they choose Charlotte as the home of the HOF.
