| France Jr. to receive Myers Brothers Award The 50th Myers Brothers Award will be presented posthumously today to Bill France Jr., who served as president of NASCAR for more than three decades. France, who took over NASCAR's top post from his father in 1972 and served as president until 2003, also won the award in voting from members of the National Motorsports Press Association in 1989. The Myers Brothers Award is the centerpiece of an annual luncheon scheduled for today during Champion's Week activities in New York. The award goes to the individuals and/or groups who have provided outstanding contributions to stock car racing. The late Benny Parsons won in 2006. -- Charlotte Observer Charlotte Observer | 11/29/2007 | France Jr. to receive Myers Brothers Award |

| Re: France Jr. to receive Myers Brothers Award Oh - "Myers" Geez we're really sorry, we read this as "Mayer" as in "Oscar Mayer". Here we thought this was (our extreme error) for Brian and it was some kind of Weiner Award. Envisioned a whole new vehicle template (see link below) with racin' so close one could not differentiate between the buns of one driver versus another. Apologies all around. We are SOOOOoooo flippin' sorry. http://www.kraftfoods.com/oscarmayer...irtualtour.htm |

| Re: France Jr. to receive Myers Brothers Award Talk about a "Made for TV" race! I see a lot of commonalities (1) The drivers would whine about handling (2) They are all identical (3) They are aerodynamical questionable (4) They are an advertising dream |

RD, to your question: are you saying Weinermobile racing is next up for NASCAR? When initially posting to this thread, never imagined even a remote possibility. But now, with momentum seeming to build, perhaps a framework for the associated competitive events should be sketched out (See above Mr. T's developing nightm - I mean "dream/vision" for the series, and your suggestion that all drivers might perhaps be those in the "hot dog" category). I just worry over the possible harmful psychological consequences to some viewers associated with the visual impact of rear end collisions. Maybe part of the rulebook must require 10 second delay in any broadcasts with a quick "cut to black" upon occurence. This is gonna require a lot of work. Mr. Tanner - almost afraid to ask we are, but what exactly was your vision/thoughts associated with - "They are an advertising dream"? |
