| Current NASCAR Problems - link David Poole just wrote an article which I found extremely interesting. I think we all, especially myself, would do well to read it, in its entirety, and give it some serious thought. That's Racin' | 11/24/2007 | Perfection? Maybe racing isn't where you should be looking

| Re: Current NASCAR Problems - link No doubt this has been a tough year for the sport and the fans alike. Poole seems to feel that the chase is a good thing. I guess my biggest beef with it is that the 13th place driver is stuck in 13th at best. A couple years ago when Tony didn't make the chase he was also forbidden from climbing into the then top 10. Granted he had absolutely nothing to lose by going all each and every race during the chase, BUT ... I believe had they been on the old system he would have ended up in 4th place. That relates to more winnings at the banquet and possibly more sponsor dollars. Sorry David ... I don't see the chase the same as you do. Some of your other points are indeed valid but you're never gonna get me to see this any differently than I do now.

| Re: Current NASCAR Problems - link Well, this Poole seems to have a better grasp and understanding of the sport than any other writer/journalist I've seen lately. Too bad he had to work football into the article. Grrrrr! He brings up some good points, but I agree that he favors The Chase. I don't.

| Re: Current NASCAR Problems - link Article a good read. As with others responding to it, we here no fan of the current Consolation Event (Chase) approach, but ya know what - it ain't going away so we'll come down real solid in agreement on a / the key point in the article - Let's go for a period of stability. There is absolutely no, not any, none, ever applied, proposed or dreamed about approach(es) towards the determination of a/the champion that avoids, eliminates or addresses the potential exceptional or out of the ordinary events and occurences associated with competitive endeavors. COT - noone yet knows what this will bring over time to the sport/competition. Seen one/some medidiot go off on the - "it hasn't reduced cost yet". No crap Sherlock. Please give us all the full depth and breadth of your infinite knowledge, wisdom, and understanding of economics. Please focus and help us understand EXACTLY how in the world as you see and live it, where we can all go out, take on a second required load (running both the aero foil car and COT for example), and have it immediately cost us less. Please, and soon - there's the boat I've never owned that I'd run out and purchase tomorrow knowing full well that my cost of living would drop immediately upon purchase. What a friggin' dope. |
