I love Jeff Gordon, because he wins, his car has flames on it, and he has a hot wife.

Re: Why I HATE/LOVE (name driver here)

I hate Jimmy Johnson because at the begining of his career, he started with Hendrick Motorsports, the best active team. If you think about it, every team has drivers that made the team what it is today. RCR had the intimidator, Hendrick had prettyboy, Gibbs had Smoke, Penske had Rusty, Woodbrothers had Rudd, Petty had... Petty! I hate it when these little rookies come into NASCAR and start with the multi-million dollor teams.

This might be a dumb question, Smoke, but doesn't your statement kind of go against what Tony did when he first drove a full season in Cup?

Colour me confused.

sounds more like jealousy than hate. I suppose, if you were a rookie, you'd turn down a chance to drive for a big team 'cause you "didn't earn it", right? what's a rookie to do? there aren't many teams left that aren't multi-million dollar teams..

I think we also disagree about Hendrick being the "best active team" when JJ started:
  • 2001 - JJ ran 3 races avg finish 31st - Gordo won the championship and Jerry Nadeau was Hendrick's #2 guy at 17th. (Tony Stewart was 2nd)
  • 2002 - JJ ran full schedule - Stewart won the championship, Gordo finished 4th and JJ 5th.
  • 2003 - Kenseth won the championship, JJ finished 2nd, Gordo 4th
  • 2004 - Kurt Busch won the championship, JJ finished 2nd, Gordo 3rd.
  • 2005 - Stewart won the Championship, JJ finished 5th, Gordo 11th
  • 2006 - JJ won the Championship, Gordo 6th
  • 2007 - JJ won the Championship, Gordo 2nd
except for his first year (only 3 races) JJ has never finished lower than 5th in Championship points while Gordo has a 6th and 11th. Gordo's won 1 while JJ has won 2 Championships. those statistics tell me JJ is the power at Hendrick, not Gordo.

BTW: I seem to remember Bobby Labonte put Gibbs on the map in 2000 when he won the championship, Tony got his 1st (Gibb's 2nd) championship 2 years later..

I do not like Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson because they have a "higher than thou" attitude. I do not like them because they think it's ok for them to do as they want on the track, but don't dare anyone else do what they did.

I do agree with that but I think that is a natural progression when you are a winner (Whinner). They have major bux behind them, both have many victories, between the two of them they have 6 championships, they are media darlings. It's only natural that your head gets far to large. I guess they need that to contain the massive egos they create.
