HOMESTEAD, Florida (Ticker) - In a year where Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon got attention for being so good; Dale Earnhardt Jr's headlines were for being so bad.
His stormy final year at Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) came to an end in Sunday's NASCAR Nextel Cup Ford 400 with a 36th-place finish.
The son of seven-time Cup champion Dale Earnhardt leaves the team started by his father, who was killed in a crash on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. He moves over to Hendrick Motorsports next season.
The end of the season couldn't come sooner for Earnhardt.

With the year he had, things can only get better next year. After he announced he was leaving and then didn't make the chase, I kinda believe he became the engine tester for DEI.

Hendrick's? Not too happy about that, but if it brings his talent to the forefront, I'm behind it 100%.

I'm not sticking up for DEI but they don't have engine issues RCR has the issues. They share engines. If you do recall at talladega i was there and JR Truex Mark Martin and a couple of RCR cars blew up.

That's one race, any others? I recall Jr detonating 5 times. Not all those times included RCR cars.

True, but the DEI/RCR merger is recent. Jr. had sh*t for luck long before RCR came into play.

Until someone can prove differently, in B&W, I will always believe that sometime between his announcement and his signing with The Felon, Junior became DEI's, and later RCR's, engine R&D test driver.

I also think that. He really didn't start having the problems til after his announcement. And when he didn't make the chase, he really started having engine trouble.

I'd be the last one on earth to even consider any conspiracy of any type, but this sure does make me think! My heart and my humanity hopes this was not the case.

I'm sure there are people with way too much time on their hands who could produce documentation to prove such a conspiracy. Thankfully, I'm not one of them!
