I (finally) got an email from Wayne. I thought I'd share the pertinent parts with you since he's having to make his trips online very short.

Greetings Charlie,
I got your letter and was pleasantly surprised. I've been trying to get some stationary and envelopes but its hard to hop the fence to get to a store here in West Seattle. The staff goes a little nuts when you disappear. Gee, I wonder why? Sounds great what you are doing on the late model. I wish I could get to play with a racer right now. But first things first. I have a different Shrink this time around and he seems to know what he's doing. He changed my medications and added another anti depressent with dextro methorophan. It acts as a binding agent and a transporter to get the meds where they need to go to do the best work. It seems to be working. I have a long way to go but we are going in the right direction. Kind of like getting rid of a push and going just a little loose. You know how its easier to drive her with a little loose and "Earnhardt it" around the turn.
My next back surgery is scheduled for April 17th. This time I am going to do what the doctor says and not play with race cars or any thing else until he gives me the go ahead. I'll have lots of PT and rest during the recovery stage. It will be a test of will power not to go out to the track and play. But thats OK because when next year rolls around I will come out screaming and make a run for the championship. I've got a sponsor for the body and paint, lettering and Northshore Baptist Church for the touch of Spirit. How can I lose? Well, lots of ways yeah I know. If my brother Murphy shows up once or twice I might have problems but I hope prayers will keep him away!
Got to go. Some other patient wants the computer. C-ya.

as you can tell, he seems to be improving; has a good (and realistic) attitude and is looking forward to getting back to real life. also looks like we need to circle April 17 on our calendars and continue mentioning Wayne in our prayers.
