I'll somewhat agree with Simon. This description fits too many drivers. I have no great love for Montoya and some of it is centered around the above and the other part is that he came in as a golden boy with ZERO experience in this series. I will no doubt have the same feelings for next years group of newbies. Nationality doesn't mean much to me. I enjoy racing and for me the Winston, Nextel, Sprint, ----- cup is top shelf. I'm still bothered that we are not getting experienced drivers from the lower series, but that is another subject.

Juan did well this year as far as stats go. There were a few incidents that left me very unimpressed. The self centeredness may be, in part, due to media coverage. The more they report on him (and others also) the more important he feels he is, therefore they are helping him be self centered and arrogant.

Next year may provide a totally different view of Juan. Hopefully it will be better ... but it could get worse.

I didn't like that he came straight to Cup with no experience. But he seems to be getting the hang of it pretty good. Still not a fan of his, but that has nothing to do with his attitude or nationality.

From my perspective it leaves him in the same boat. I guess I just don't understand why they jump from the top series in one type of car to the top series in another type of car. This sin't like trading in your Ford for a Chevrolet and having trouble learning where the wiper switch is. This is 150 MPH's (+/-) with a totally different driving car. David Ragan who is not a foreigner obviously didn't have enough experience. I saw him as an inexperienced driver making a mess on the track ... too often. I understand that accidents happen even to the veteran drivers but I would like to believe that experience decreases the stats in that department.

So where will Franchitti fit in ??? Watch the first few races and then you'll have a much better idea.
