| NASCAR could change qualifying for '08? NASCAR officials said they will make a decision in the offseason as to whether drivers outside the top 35 in points will have a separate qualifying session in 2008. Some team owners have asked NASCAR for that change, saying the current qualifying procedure, which typically lasts more than two hours, gives an unfair advantage to some as tracks often undergo significant changes during the two-hour procedure. Weather changes and changes in track temperature in late afternoon qualifying sessions often benefit some drivers trying to make the field. -- Birmingham News al.com: Everything Alabama |

| Re: NASCAR could change qualifying for '08? the first thing the can do to fix qualifying (besides the Chosen rule), is to run qualifying at the same time the race is scheduled to start or end. then at least there wouldn't be that "track changing because of darkness/sun in your eyes" problem that haunts so many tracks. forget about the best time for the TV audience, do it at the best time for the teams .. ALL the teams. 2nd is drop the impound if they're gonna keep the Chosen.

| Re: NASCAR could change qualifying for '08? run qualifying at the same time the race is scheduled to start or end Wouldn't that have only the very first qualifier running under actual race conditions? Guess I'm missing something. |
