Re: So much for Busch growing up.

What about the little people in the stands at the small tracks that may look on Kyle B. as a hero. You know the Dick,Jane's and may even have Spot there also, lol. How do the kid's see it? A big time Nascar driver/hero quit and walk off?Not good in my way of thinking.Hell,it may have been the only race their parent/parent's could afford to take them to all year. Not a good move for any sports star to pull at any time.

Re: So much for Busch growing up.

I somehow suspect that Kyle would not win no matter what he did in this situation. He left rather than let his temper get out of hand and he's getting flak, but if he had stayed and those two got into it again, he probably would have gotten the blame for that too.

Maybe the lesson here is knowing when to walk away?

Maybe he wouldn't have won, but watching an excellent driver weave his way through traffic at local short tracks is awesome. I've seen it plenty of times, and the crowd is not usually watching the leaders when that is happening. Kyle let the local fans down by pulling off.......IMHO.
But most here are correct knowing Kyles history of temper tantrums. It was probably best for him at the time.

Let me see now. That is one right thing he has done this year.

Nope ... I'm still not ready to like him.

Any adult in a high stress occupation should be able to control his/her temper so they don't have to walk away. If he can't control himself over something like this, especially if he knew the rules going in, then he needs to find another job and/or hobby. As much as I love to watch this kid race because he's just plain good, I can't commend him for knowing when to quit. He's still quitting and he still needs to be mature enough to handle situations like this. I hope the does eventually change his tune because I'd like to be "fan". He is one of the most talented driver's to come along in a long time.

It's a lead in not a quote but it is what he did to sum it up.

Re: So much for Busch growing up.

I still think that Kyle did the right thing. If the guy had wrecked Kyle once and then they were suppose to start beside each other again, maybe Kyle decided it was better to walk away than to take a chance on getting wrecked again and maybe getting hurt. Or letting his temper get the best of him and him wreck the other guy and the other guy get hurt.
As far as being able to control your temper instead of having to walk away. I'm 45 and their are still times when I have to walk away. But when I do I'm thankful that I got sense enough to know I need to walk away. Most 22 year olds I know don't have sense enough to do that cause they think they are invinceable and bulletproof and always right.

A person can control their temper to a certain point SC.... eventually one must take a step away to put things in perspective and clear their minds before the volcano erupts. Who knows... he may have been thinkin that if he went back out there and raced got into it with that guy again, he would have looked like the bad guy.

Re: So much for Busch growing up.

I get why people are criticizing him for the statement but I think people are being a bit harsher than he deserves. Considering the circumstances, I think he handled it as well as he could have.

I haven't been to a local track with a NA__AR "Star" blessing the track with his mere presence for awhile. Occasionally Rick Crawford comes out to Mobile but he usually hangs around the pits. O saw Blaney run Sharon, PA last year but he was in his own car and had no Cup affiliation.

Speaking for myself, I have no problem with someone collecting show money IF they don't come in, en masse. Also if they use one of the local drivers cars, or if they run their own, personally maintained car (read: a car which is on a fairly equal par with the local cars), I see nothing wrong with that.

But, if a guy were to show up at Mobile in a car built, maintained and crewed by Hendrick, Roush or Evernham, or if five of six of these primadonna's showed up and five or six local boy went home with no money that night, THEN I'd personally have a BIG problem with that.

Re: So much for Busch growing up.

I go to Eldora Speedway and the Nascar drivers are great and very outgoing and so are the announcers.
