Silly season involves more than just the drivers. Crew Chiefs and even pit crew move around leaving holes that need to be filled. It's unfortunate to lose a good team member but it's part of the sport unfortunately.

The 43 and 45 car have had decent runs but overall they have not put up the numbers to retain and attract the top dogs. Hopefully they can get somebody who will click with Bobby and they can have a decent '08. I think Bobby worked with Fatback once before so if he's available that could be a good fit.

I fail to see this as Bobby being hard to work with. How can he work with Makar for so long and then not be able to hold a crew chief for more than one season. To me I think it has to do with PE. Maybe they don't pay as much as the top teams.

I could not think of Jeff's car chief's name so here is the guy. Gordon car chief Meendering weighing options with team At least the guy sticks with his team to the end,which may be a cup championship.

I think this may be good for Bobby. After all the guy is coming from one of the top teams, that can't hurt. He did a good enough job when Letarte was suspended that Jeff still finish in the top 10. I hope he can do the same for Bobby. I know there is a difference in equipment, but who knows Petty just might step that up some in 2008.

This is enough reason for me to get excited about next season.

This is the move that will determine PE's fate. If he can come in and put some top cars under Bobby and consistently be in the hunt for wins then I think Bobby stays and builds with PE. If he fails to provide decent cars for Bobby and is on his way out by the end of the year I think Bobby goes too. Bobby may feel like at home with PE, but I'm sure this musical chair routine with the crew chiefs is taking a toll on him. Must be hard to have to start over rebuilding his chemistry every year. Would be nice if he could of built some thing through the years with just one crew chief.

I sure hope this is it. Jimmy Makar seems to be the only one he really worked well with. Fatback seemed to be doing a good job, I'd love to know the real deal with his firing.

I was under the impression Fatback quit because he was never with his family and wanted to be able to attend Sunday church services. I believe he said that in some interviews ... and yes I know that doesn't make it true but I never heard anything about being fired.

That was why he left the Wood Brothers. But I tink he got fired from Gibbs. For the rest of that season, he wore the cap of whatever team the Redskins were playing!
