Jimmie Johnson's victory in Sunday's Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway helped Chevrolet tie its all-time victory record in the Nextel Cup Series. Chevrolet drivers have scored 25 victories in 34 races this season - 13 with the Monte Carlo SS spoiler car and 12 with the Impala SS Car of Tomorrow - which ties the brand's win record set way back in 1958. "This has been an incredible and exciting year for Chevrolet in NASCAR Nextel Cup competition," said Alba Colon, the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series program manager for GM Racing. "To score 25 wins in one season is a mark that we at GM Racing and Chevrolet could only have hoped to achieve. We are proud of each of our teams and drivers for their efforts this season to achieve this monumental feat. Competition in the NASCAR Nextel Cup is at an all-time high and we know the bar will continue to rise." With Phoenix and Homestead still left on the schedule, the teams will try to smash the victory mark before the season ends. Chevrolet already has long-since clinched the manufacturer's championship.
