| question re: car color schemes Hello everyone, I'm a recent convert to Nascar and, living in Ireland, form part of a tiny minority of people who understand just how great it is. I've noticed that the color schemes on some of the cars seem to change from race to race (something which never happens in F1, indy etc). In some cases it is obviously due to sponsorship requirements (eg. Jeff Gordon, DuPont/nicorette), but sometimes teams just seem to change color for no apparent reason. For example, in Atlanta two weeks ago Reed Sorenson's car was pink and Kurt Busch's car was gold. As far as I could tell from the tv pictures, their sponsors were Target and Miller Lite as usual. Last week, in Texas, they were back to their more usual red and blue liveries. Could anyone tell me if this is done for a specific reason? I know this is a pretty trivial question, but I'm just curious about it. Ty for reading. |

| Re: question re: car color schemes Hey disco stu, welcome to GoTeamsGo and the NASCAR Forums. As you've already seen, there's plenty of folks here willing to share their knowledge of NASCAR and car racing in general. We try to keep the more technical stuff in the Ask The Experts thread and trivia in the NASCAR Trivia Forum. Check them out .. they might hold the answer to a question you didn't know you had .. yet! Other reasons cars carry a different paint scheme is to honor special races (Daytona 500, Indy 500, etc) or special holidays (July 4th) or special events/people (camouflage to honor the troops). Of course, it's always with the approval of the car's sponsors and may even be the sponsor's idea. Jayski is a good place to follow the paint schemes .. they always have good photos and descriptions of the purpose of the new scheme. On a different subject, be sure to stop by the "predictions" thread and post yours for the upcoming race. Only 2 to go this year, but we'll ready when next season comes to continue what's become a great tradition at the GoTeamsGo NASCAR Forum. Again, Welcome!

| Re: question re: car color schemes Welcome DS to GoTeamsGo and to the NASCAR Forum. I hope you enjoy the sport as much as we do. Don't be afriad to ask questions that is why we are here. How did you find out about NASCAR and when did you start Liking it. I was just wondering because it is the last two races of the season left.

| Re: question re: car color schemes What a great welcome guys, tyvm. Oh, and don't worry, I certainly won't be backward in coming forward with my questions! (You might live to regret being so encouraging of me, hahaha). In answer to drnascar48's question, I like most forms of motorsport (being European, of course, F1 would be pretty high on the list!) and have done all of my life. The problem for us in this part of the world has been that - up until last year - Nascar didn't get any TV coverage. We now have a station available to us called NASN which shows American sports. So, now, every Sunday night (perfect timing for me) I get to watch Nascar live (oh, and that's with no commercial breaks....jealous?). And the bug has really bitten me. As well as this, I would consider myself to be a bit of a Montoya fan (the F1 thing again), and so that also stimulated my interest. I have to say that Nascar goes largely ignored in this part of the world....it's the ovals that tend to put people off. Most people here just don't seem to understand that comparing oval racing with road track racing is comparing an apple with an orange! Hopefully, though, NASN will be getting more and more people like me interested ("interested"....hahaha.....that's an understatement, I'm already planning a vacation to the states whereby I can get to three consecutive race weekends!!!!). Anyway, once again guys, ty for such a teriffic welcome to your forum. You are a great ad for the sport. Kind Regards, Tony. |

| Re: question re: car color schemes If the paint schemes interest you, just wait till you get to a live race. TV or seeing pictures of them on the internet doesn't do the cars much justice, compared to the brilliance of the schemes in person. It's a "WOW" kind of moment, at least to me. And welcome to the best NASCAR forum around! |
