Although all of them are good in their own right, I voted for Death Race 2000, I love that movie..

Re: Favorite Racing Movie Ever

I admit to being just a tiny bit narrow minded. That being said I firmly believe that there has been only ONE Hollywood film which tried accurately to portray professional racing. That film was Frankenheimer's 1966 classic, Grand Prix starring James Garner, Eva Marie Saint and Yves Montand. By this film's standard, every other racing movie has been a more-or-less joke.

But then, that;s just my personal opinion and I may be very wrong...

I loved the Cars movie. I don't usually go for this type of movie, so the Pixar movie gets my vote.

Re: Favorite Racing Movie Ever

Wow! What a crazy pole! I voted for Other. "Dale" was a great movie, though more of a documentary, it was about racing.

Depends how you define "racing". "Smokey and the Bandit" is a great "chase" movie, but I wouldn't consider it "racing".

What about "Bullitt" with Steve McQueen? Another "chase" movie.

Jeez! You could even add "The Blues Brothers" to this pole. "Thelma and Louis"? "The Sugarland Express"?

yeah, but the forum software limits the number of choices in a poll to 10...even if some of them aren't "on topic"....

Yeah, that's what I went with too - partially because it was a good movie, and partially because I've never seen a lot of the others.

That was a great movie. I recently saw it for the first time!

I voted for Smokey and the bandit. All the NASCAR movies are crap. Love the sport, hate the movies!

Re: Favorite Racing Movie Ever

vincesanity82, you forgot to put in poll the very movie considered the best, namely John Frankenheimer's (1966) Grand Prix.

I (partially) agree with bob in that (except for Le Mans) "every other racing movie has been a more-or-less joke".
Le Mans is the exception for me due to it's showcase of the epic Porsche (917K) - Ferrari (512M) battle.
