| Correct step to end bushwacking! It needs to go a little further as in only 50% of purse money goes to cup drivers no matter if they win.Split the rest of the money with the Nationwide drivers. Also sounds like the top 35 rule in cup will stay for a bit longer, too bad. The problem is the fact that the Cup Raiders are using the Cup Lite Series as a paid testing session for the Cup race. Everything the article says NA__AR is doing to "discourage Cup Drivers" does little to alleviate the main problem. They say they're going to use a new race car chassis with "pony car" sheet metal. If they also incorporate the front splitter and the wing that will do little to stop the Raiders. Even with a less-powered engine and different body metal there will still be a lot that will transfer from one series to the other. If they take away points from the Raiders they, in effect, create a two tiered system within a single series. Confusing... Let's say for example Flounder P. Dorfmann is in 35th place and runs a Cup Lite race. he gets no points, right? Now let's say Ol' Flounder has a rotten Cup race and the following week he finds himself in 36th. If he run a Cup Lite race the next weekend does he get points for one week? Will he get points for every race he's run in Cup Lite for the entire season? Let's say our boy Flounder runs the entire Cup Lite season and remains part of The Chosen. Let's go one and say Flounder wins twenty-five Cup Lite races but gets no points. Let's go on and say the next best nine records in Cup lite belong to Cup Chosen regulars and the best record a Cup Lite Non-Chosen driver has puts him eleventh on the record list. Wouldn't you say his Championship is a little tainted and suspect? How many potential future Cup drivers were denied starting spots in Cup Lite races because they were out-qualified by Cup Raiders? Lots of very valuable seat time lost there, IMNSVHO. All that article does for me is to see that NA__AR actually acknowledges that there is a problem but it lacks the cajoņes to actually do anything meaningful about it. My solution: Use crate engine in the BGN Series Go to the new race car chassis narrowed by 6", and use pony car sheet metal but allow very minor chassis or body modifications. Have the BGN car run with a front air dam and a spoiler, vice splitter and wing. Get out of the sole tire supplier contract with Goodyear. Have the BGN cars run Hoosier tires. Then, have the CTS run strictly Firestone or McCreary tires. That way virtually nothing would carry over from one series to another except actual seat experience. This might not solve the problem but, at least, it would be doing something!

| Re: Correct step to end bushwacking! The solution is easy. I've stated this many times and believe it is the right way to solve the problem. Not only will it solve the issue but it is an very easy fix. Only give drivers one race entry per weekend. If you are entered into the cup race then you can not enter the NWS/CTS race or vice versa. I would give the driver 10 weekends where they get 2 entries. This will give each cup driver ten races at their choosing they can enter in the NWS. This should spread things out a bit and open up seats for younger guys. Plus this will also give those fans who love seeing the big name drivers atleast one or two in a NWS/CTS race. I would also give the drives 3 out of thos 10 where if they wanted to run triple duty(if CTS race is the same weekend). I think this is the only true way to limit it. I don't think it needs to end all together just needs to be toned down ALOT. I know we want young drivers to learn, but they still need someone to learn from. |
