hold on there buckaroo .. there's more to Phoenix than sand .. there's a few hills scattered around the mostly flat landscape that's home to 1.5 million souls... of particular significance is it is the headquarters for Uhaul!

and then there's Arizona State University!!! (That's a good thing )

<slap!!> I completely forgot about the U-Haul Center! I also forgot to mention the former home of J.J. Yeley. You can also travel to the Grand Canyon...Ooops! Las Vegas is much closer to the big hole than is Phoenix.

Oh well, in case I've missed something I enclose the following link:TRAVEL | Phoenix News| azfamily - KTVK| News for Phoenix, Arizona

I'd still take Vegas. I'll just never stay at Circus Circus again!

If Luxor was only a mile away from Excaliber and New York New York, it'd be the perfect site.

I assume you mean "farther" away since the Excalibur and Luxor are side by side. Does the noise from the knights armor clanging and the roller coaster keep you up at night?

a moment of silence: I was just at the Strip Hotels website and noticed these prime hotel/casinos are closed - Westward Ho, Stardust, Boardwalk and the ever popular Bourbon Street. RIP.

Excalibur has a pretty decent buffet and, unlike some I could mention, it's not overpriced.

But the best by far is the Rio .. it's just not on the strip but across the interstate!!!
