| Re: Bruton Smith pulls Charlotte races Track owner may be thinking big HAMPTON, Va. So what is Bruton Smith really up to? Whatever it is, it may be bigger than just the furor surrounding Smith’s threat to pull the plug on Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This whole thing seems to have the momentum of a snowball rolling downhill. While NASCAR teams spent the past two days at Smith’s Atlanta Motor Speedway testing the car of tomorrow, Smith has been looking at the bigger picture. Smith, who owns many of NASCAR’s most prestigious tracks, has been having long discussions with the governors of both North and South Carolina about his speedway plans for Charlotte. South Carolina officials seem quite interested in trying to woo Smith across the state line. And Smith has been talking with both Brian France, the NASCAR CEO, and Jim France, Brian’s uncle and the man who now owns majority interest in both NASCAR and the International Speedway Corporation. Whatever these three may be discussing, well, it’s probably not the weather. Winston-Salem Journal | Track owner may be thinking big

| Re: Bruton Smith pulls Charlotte races I was gonna say LSC... if and I emphasize IF, this holds tru about NYC, then NA$CAR/ISC would get their wish for a track in manhattanbut, I'll wait and see what the hell is goin on. On a side note, I'm bettin Smith will be hiring securtiy guards to watch his back. He better, he could have just signed his own death warrant.

I find it really hard to believe this rumor about NYC. It's already been proven that NYC does not want a NASCAR track there, and no amount of money is gonna change those people's minds, no matter who it comes from. Thinking otherwise is like thinking Hollywood supports NASCAR and the Hollywood crowd will fill seats at the Labor Day race in Fontana. This talk of NYC brings up another thing that's always really disappointed me about NASCAR. Having the awards ceremony there. It's about time they realized NYC does not support NASCAR and it's time to move the ceremony somewhere else. Like CHARLOTTE when they get the Hall of Fame building finished. To heck with NYC and to heck with Hollywood. Let's go racing in Kentucky on Labor Day and let's have the awards ceremony in Charlotte. That would help getting things back on track, in my humble opinion. |

| Re: Bruton Smith pulls Charlotte races no idea, but you can be sure if he's gonna buck NASCAR it'll be competitive with Cup... if that happens, NASCAR will have about a dozen open dates, or a third of their schedule |
