Props to GTG

Believe it or not, I don't consider myself a "web" person. GTG is just a place that I stumbled upon and enjoy very much. I don't frequent any other forum, regardless of the topic.

From time to time, I venture out to Google other NASCAR chat rooms/forums to see what's going on outside of GTG. As I've mentioned before, these ventures have proved disappointing to say the least.

As the season winds down, I thought I would once again venture out to peruse other forums. Once again, bad idea! You would not believe the crap that is being discussed.

I stumbled on banter comparing Days of Thunder to Talladega Nights! This was a "new" subject! Believe it or not, Talladega Nights was the favorite among the members of this other forum. This was one of the most popular topics! Are you kidding me?

Let me tell you about bashing! Some of these forums have a disclaimer right up front that they are shut down or about to be shut down due to member bashing as opposed to discussions regarding NASCAR. Of the forums that are still up and running, obviously without moderation, it is my firm belief that all of the members are under the age of 18 ... or just plain ignorant and beyond reproach.

I introduced myself to two forums (which will remain nameless) that seemed "safe". Nothing controversial in my introduction, so I thought. Within 20 minutes I received 5 posts ripping me up one side and down the other! Remember George Carlin's Seven Dirty Words? Well, most of them were used directed at me, my post, and my stupidity! Yikes! Within 1/2 an hour I requested to be removed from these two forums.

Well ... quite the lead in, wasn't it?

My point is that GTG truly is the best NASCAR forum out there for people with intelligence, respect, and an understanding of the sport. I don't agree with everyone on GTG, and the opposite is certainly true. At the very least, if someone disagrees with me, I get a logical rebuttal instead of a spewing lecture laced with profanity! Yes, the juveniles (and I don't mean disrespect to age) come and go, but, for the most part, I can count on GTG and its members to provide intelligent discussions ... whether I like them or not!

Hats off to the GTG staff and all of its members! I'll miss you guys/gals during the off season!

Ok, that's enough warm, fuzzy from me. HMS S*CKS!

You are right Penelope. It is a great forum. Not just Nascar, but all of them.

Re: Props to GTG

on behalf of the management and sponsors of the BEST NASCAR Forums on the 'net, let me first thank you for your kind words and say "without you, it would not be so"

warm fuzzies aside, let me ask: "What were you thinking?" Another Forum??? Where did we go so wrong that you'd even consider such a thing?

ah-hem, be that as it may, we will be here all winter, doors open .. well, unlocked anyway .. stove stoked in the trailer and accepting regulars and visitors alike (as long as they bring the proper admission) we're sorry, but we don't know if Q will ever go home to his bride, but we can always hope...

thanks again, Penny .. you are a "regular" whether you want to be or not .. we refuse to remove your name from our honor and membership rolls (somebody "penciled" it in with a Sharpie!!!)

Re: Props to GTG

I also went to alot of other nascar forums, before finding this one. They were all full of name calling and all that. When I first came across this one, I just looked around on it a few days before I joined. I was very impressed with the way the members done.
We may bash drivers and all, but I've never seen any bashing of other members. It's so nice to be able to have a nice conversation about nascar. Even the disagreements are pretty much done in a nice way.

This year, the entire season was NASCAR Silly Season.

Don't follow the Red Sox that closely. I watch the games, don't follow the politics. Great Series, huh?

I'm sure I'll check in from time to time ...

You're welcome and deserving.

Yes, I strayed. I don't know what I was thinking! Trying to keep my mind occupied these days. When I tell people I hate the Internet, they look at me like I have two heads. I really do ... hate the Internet, not have to heads. I didn't stray because of anything GTG did or didn't do. I was just curious ... and you know what that did to the cat!

A "regular", huh? Well, that's an elite club!

Hey! Let's make a new "membership" tag. I asked about that Charter thing months ago, but I guess that went the way of the Edsel.

Re: Props to GTG

Since I am one of the "Senior" members of this forum (in more than one way) I have great pride in what we as a group have here.

Like most of you I looked in on various forums from time to time and found all the same issues the rest of you did. I came, I viewed, I left. When I tripped onto GTG I figured it would only be a matter of time before it went downhill. I'm no longer waiting for that to happen.

I made the 7th post in the NASCAR forum and have been coasting along with few ripples in the water ever since. As a moderator my function here has been relatively simple. There has only been one member that has gotten under my skin. That one played on the edge but remained within our guidelines ..... barely. He finally went over the edge after about two weeks and is now gone .... for good.

There have been many that have come and gone and while they were here they were an addition to our forum. There are also many that are here on a very regular basis. Because I know I would most certainly leave out a name or two I refuse to try and name all of you. I will tell you that there are a lot who post here that I admire because of their knowledge. There are also many who I admire because of their ability to use common sense. There are also a couple of wacko's like myself who keep us in the world of reality.

As a group you people are some of the very best. I wish there were a way we could all go to the track and enjoy one another personally. We all have a lot in common and with the success we have shown the rest of GTG, we are definitely the best on the internet.

As for our off season I'd like to tell you that we have some real special things going on but that would be a "KNAUSING" (lie) Sorry HMS fans !!! We will be here through the long cold bone chilling winter with as much news and discussion as possible.

Please don't think we won't be here. It may slow down a bit but with all the news that has happened during the season in reference to next season ... you just know that the off season will be filled with a lot for us to yap about.

I'll be here ... don't make me man the trailer all by myself !!!

Hey, I pay most the fines... I think I'm entitled to leave a few empties lyin around.... as for being home with the misses, she is currently recoverin so this play time is accepted, but it will soon be cut back. She has said once she is back to rare form we will be goin out. I won't mind though.
