| Ethanol may be in NASCAR's future CEO Rick Wagoner of General Motors has been talking with NASCAR executives about bringing ethanol fuel into stock-car racing, to make the sport "greener." Brent Dewar, GM vice president in charge of racing, said "We are guests at this party. But we're also a partner, and we think this would be the right signal to send to America. We have to reduce our (foreign) dependency. "We know they have a fuel partner (Sunoco), and we're respectful of that. We're hoping that when the time comes for a discussion of the fuel we can talk about that. What we have to do now is show them some of the technical learnings we've had with ethanol in other series. "But it's very do-able." -- Winston-Salem Journal Winston-Salem Journal | NASCAR Notebook: Ethanol may be in NASCAR's future |

| Re: Ethanol may be in NASCAR's future the good thing about ethanol is that it keeps a bunch of farmers in Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska from getting paid for not growing corn.... ethanol is the tip of a very nasty sword as far as auto racing goes .. imagine your race cars running bio-diesel... that's what's next up... this "comment" from GM makes you wonder how many corn farms they own...

| Re: Ethanol may be in NASCAR's future > ^ Well this was certainly coming. IRL and Champ Car use bio-ethanol and methanol. The 24h of Le Mans and its series ALMS and LMS have been conquered by diesels like the Audi R10 and Peugeot 908. Swedish touring cars run on bio-ethanol and FIA World Touring Cars will run exclusively on bio-ethanol from 2009. And F1 is also talking about going green. So it doesn't surprise me that this green-ness could/will be coming.
