| Who's Your Driver? No, I'm not asking who's your favorite, I'm asking of the three following drivers which do you choose to put on your team? Let me set it up this way, the statistics are real and belong to drivers currently running in Cup. I'll only give the statistics, not their names nor the teams they drive for, but suffice to say, you know each of these guys and they may even be your favorite. Here's the stats (not the whole season, just the last 10 races): Driver A: 0 win, 3 T5, 4 T10, 1129 points, best 3 finishes - 3, 5, 5, worst 3 finishes - 25, 30, 40So, which driver would you put on your team? A? B? or C?

| Re: Who's Your Driver? Ok, I'll be the first one to show how completely illogical I probably am. I would go with Driver C. He doesn't have a win and his T5 stat isn't as good as A & B, his best three finishes are comparable to the other two, but his three worst finishes suggest great consistancy and an ability to stay out of trouble. I would guess that he doesn't have a DNF, but I'm not so sure about the other two. Now, how badly have I embarrased myself with that answer? Go ahead, I can handle the truth!

| Re: Who's Your Driver? Lessee --- 10 races and no info as to the circumstances associated with any of the stats (i.e. was "B" drivers win anything other than some form of gift?; were his less good - compared to the others - worst finishes due to engine failure or some other factor that cannot possibly be associated with the driver?). This owner, recognizing I'm gonna have to pay notable dinero to acquire the services of any of them, needs to understand a bit more before shelling out. Stats like these, while interesting, need much more objective and subjective consideration. Interested in the "who they are" cause it can serve to provide some of the subjective and objective elements. |

But, since you brought it up, here's a bit more info: each of these drivers is considered a "veteran" and in the first half of their Cup career; each of these drivers have had at least one win in their Cup career; and each of these drivers drive for an upper tier owner. And a few more statistics: the driver with the worst worst finishes also has earned the fewest points during the 10 races, but on the season has more T5 & T10 finishes than the other two, but only by 2 T10s. the 3 are together in overall points though the one with the win is last of the 3 and the one with the worst worst finishes is the leader of the 3 and Mr Consistency is in the middle.. I don't know how much that will help, but there you have it. |

| Re: Who's Your Driver? Don't want to fill space with quote stuff here. Still (here) do not know enough to shell out money from my organization based on the info. I look at "C" and have to wonder what were the reason for his/her two DNQ's? Didn't even make the attempt? Made an attempt but totally blew it? Had crap for equipment? It matters. Not looking to get the answers, just laying out some of the additional decision criteria (for us) to make the contract offer. The numbers alone will NEVER be enough here. Analysis paralysis. |
